Meet Wyatt Maxwell of Nashville Glasshaus

Today we’d like to introduce you to Wyatt Maxwell.

Hi Wyatt, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My journey started at Centre College, where I took a glass blowing class from the late Stephen Powell that completely captivated me. That experience sparked a deep interest in the intersection of creativity and craftsmanship. I later transferred to Belmont University to finish my degree in business, with the goal of marrying art and entrepreneurship.

The idea really started to take shape after a trip to East Tennessee, which, at the time, was home to the closest glass blowing studio to Nashville, nearly four hours away. That trip made me realize how much I wanted to bring that kind of artistic experience closer to home and explore how business could be a vehicle for making art more accessible. It’s been a winding but exciting path ever since.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, though it’s been incredibly rewarding. One of our biggest challenges early on was figuring out what to focus on, hospitality, glass, food, events, etc. The demand was overwhelming in the best way. People wanted to take classes, commission custom pieces, and just be part of the process. But there weren’t enough hours in the day!

Balancing the creative side with the operational realities was tough. We had to learn quickly how to scale without losing the heart of what made it special. It’s been a constant evolution, but every challenge has helped shape a clearer vision of what we’re building.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Glasshaus is Nashville’s first glass blowing studio, offering hands-on classes, live demos, and a café/bar where guests can enjoy coffee, cocktails, and bites in a vibrant, art-filled space. We’re a family-run business passionate about making glass art accessible and experiential. We also host private events and group experiences, creating unforgettable moments around the magic of molten glass.

Our space includes Maxwell Gallery, Nashville’s first glass art gallery, showcasing works from local and national artists. In the back is Torch, a vetted membership community for founders, dealmakers, and disruptors to connect and accelerate progress.

What sets us apart is our commitment to blending art, hospitality, and innovation. We’re proud to offer a space that inspires creativity, fosters community, and supports the people who are shaping Nashville’s future.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
When it comes to finding a mentor, I’ve found that the best connections happen organically. Instead of asking someone to be your mentor outright, build relationships with people whose work you admire. Show up, add value, and let mentorship evolve naturally.

I’ve been lucky to have an incredible mentor, David Tucker, my high school art teacher, who helped shape my creative foundation and continues to be a source of guidance and encouragement. That early mentorship taught me the value of having someone who sees your potential and helps you grow into it.
