Today we’d like to introduce you to Lucas Bryant.
Hi Lucas, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I was originally inspired to go into medicine during a college leadership trip to Nepal in 2003. During the trip, one of the objectives was to find a way to serve and be helpful within the local communities. I felt like I was un-trained to be helpful in many ways, and decided I wanted to acquire the skills I needed to become uniquely helpful. In my case, that meant pursing a medical degree.
When COVID hit in 2020, I left my prior employment to focus fully on facial plastic surgery and my practice, REFINE | Facial Plastic Surgery and Aesthetics. While this was a stressful time, it was a great opportunity to fully focus on building the world-class experience I wanted for my patients in our original Mt Juliet location.
As our reputation grew, we expanded into a second location in downtown Nashville in 2024. Surgery is a very personal thing and most of my patients have been bothered for years upon years about their concern before they finally work up the courage to undergo a surgical treatment. As a facial plastic surgeon, I am always looking for ways to optimize my patient’s experience and improve our offerings. Because of this, we now have a body plastic surgeon (he does facelifts too though!), an aesthetic nurse practitioner who offers lasers and injectables, and a nurse aesthetician. This allows REFINE to provide comprehensive beauty care and guidance – from picking out the best facial moisturizer, all the way up the ladder to providing absolutely astounding cosmetic plastic surgery results. Because we do not accept insurance, we can really spend our time developing the patient-physician relationship like it was originally intended. I can focus on my patients and their concerns, not on insurance authorizations and claims.
Today I am most excited for our upcoming development. In 2025, I purchased a building in the Belmont/Hillsboro area. We will use this new location to build a full service all-inclusive beauty and aesthetics practice which will rival any facility in the country. I am obsessive about both experience and results, and having our own building will allow us to really bring that commitment to a new level. I know my patients will feel the difference, and I’m excited to offer that to them!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
One of the hardest things has been finding the right team members to join REFINE. As a company with exceptionally high standards, we are not a good fit for everybody as an employer. The team we have carefully cultivated and crafted at REFINE today is truly fantastic. One of the best parts of my week is always hearing from patients how much the LOVE our staff! With so much going on at our office, the majority of interactions patient have is usually with a team member other than myself. I love being confident that they will receive the same great care from everyone at the office as they would if it was me personally.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
For Dr. Lucas Bryant, Refine Facial Plastic Surgery and Aesthetics is more than just a name — it is the motivating force that drives his practice.
Dr. Bryant is innovative, research-driven, honest, and compassionate, and wanted to create a space in the aesthetic community that reflected those values. Refine Facial Plastic Surgery and Aesthetics is the result of that vision: a pristine, modernized center for facial plastic surgery in Nashville with access to the most exciting new procedures in aesthetic medicine today. As Refine Facial Plastic Surgery and Aesthetics’ founder and director, Dr. Bryant employs proven and innovative techniques to make sure that each procedure meets his precise standards for excellence.
I am obsessive about excellence in outcomes and patient experience, so the two pillars of the practice have been HONESTY and EXCELLENCE from day one. I have also never really liked a lot of the pomp and circumstance antics that some plastic surgery practices have. I like to let our results speak for themselves. I’ve tried really hard to keep the tone at REFINE aligned with an “approachable sophistication” vibe.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
To get a great outcome and experience success in something at a truly exceptional level, it will always to be harder to do and take longer to do than you think.
