Today we’d like to introduce you to Anthony Crockett.
Hi Anthony, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Over ten years ago, I came to Clarksville to help my grandfather, Pastor Walter Crockett, with small tasks at The Greater Faith Temple Church while he recovered from a serious medical condition. What began as a temporary assignment became a calling. I quickly developed a deep love for the ministry and recognized significant needs within the community.
Today, I serve as Senior Pastor of The Greater Faith Temple Church and visionary behind A City of Refuge, a ministry dedicated to meeting tangible needs in our community. Through its programs we’ve been able to provide meals, jobs, essential resources, mentorships, love, and a safe space for individuals and families to rebuild their lives.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road hasn’t always been smooth. After my grandfather, Pastor Walter Crockett, passed away, both the ministry and I had to walk through grief while also navigating a major leadership transition. Our church was small in number and limited in resources, yet we carried a big God-given assignment on our shoulders.
We learned to be patient, to build slowly, and to trust that what we had was enough for the moment. Every challenge strengthened our faith and sharpened our focus. Looking back, those seasons of stretching prepared us for everything God has allowed us to do today.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
My work focuses on building both faith and community. As Senior Pastor of The Greater Faith Temple Church and founder of A City of Refuge, I lead a ministry that goes beyond the four walls of the church. I’m called to preach the Gospel, develop leaders, and serve people in practical ways that change lives. I am also a certified marriage and family counselor, which allows me to help strengthen households, relationships, and the emotional well-being of those we serve.
A City of Refuge has become a safe space for individuals and families facing some of life’s toughest battles. Ministry becomes meaningful when people feel seen, valued, and empowered to move forward.
I am most proud that our church, though once small and limited, has become known for having a huge heart for service. We show up where others may not. We find solutions when resources are thin. We love people fully and consistently.
What sets us apart is our commitment to be present. We don’t wait for people to come to us. We go to them. Everything we do is rooted in compassion, integrity, and a belief that everyone deserves help, hope, and an opportunity to experience a transformed life.
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
What matters most to me is not becoming the largest church or the most well-known ministry. My greatest desire is to please God and witness genuine life change. Success looks like a young person choosing a better path, families growing stronger, and individuals who once battled addiction now walking in freedom and health.
Every transformed life reminds me why we do this work. Faith comes alive when it changes how we live, love, and show up for one another. That is what matters most to me.
