Today we’d like to introduce you to Cassie Mccord.
Hi Cassie, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My story began the way many transformations do — in the quiet ache of change. After having my two children, Ronan and Willow, I found myself navigating new skin, new roles, and a deep desire to rebuild. The hormonal shifts that come with having children left me battling cystic acne and unwanted hair, but they also led me to something greater — a calling. When I discovered esthetics, I felt an immediate spark. It wasn’t just about skincare; it was about healing, empowerment, and helping others feel at home in their own skin.
At the time, I was in an unhealthy marriage and searching for light in a dark season. Enrolling in the esthetics program was my leap of faith — the first step toward rewriting my story. After graduating, I left with nothing but my two children and an unshakable determination to build a better life. Through the generosity of friends, I found a safe place to start over, and soon after, a door opened at a local wax studio.
I remember those early days vividly — shaky hands, hopeful heart. With mentorship, long hours, and quiet courage, I found my rhythm. Waxing became my craft and my purpose. Two years later, that same courage carried me into entrepreneurship, and Moon Glow Esthetics was born — named for my daughter, Willow Moon, and inspired by the strength and softness both of my children bring to my life.
Moon Glow started as just a salon suite & has grown into a sanctuary built on comfort, artistry and empowerment. I’ve watched this little dream bloom into something luminous in two incredible years.
At this point, my journey has come full circle. I’ve recently been offered a position as an esthetics instructor at Georgia Career Institute. I’m so excited to have found a path that allows me to guide new estheticians as they discover their own light — just as others once helped me find mine.
Every phase of my story has carried a lesson: that beauty is born from resilience, and that even in the darkest chapters, the moon still glows.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
My path has had its phases — light and shadow, ebb and flow. The journey has been beautiful, but it hasn’t been easy. Starting over as a single mother, rebuilding from scratch, and growing a business while healing from the past meant learning to hold grace for myself in every season.
There were times I doubted if I was capable of creating something sustainable on my own. But each challenge taught me resilience. Late nights turned into early mornings, fear turned into faith, and clients became a community that reminded me why I began.
There’s also the quiet side of entrepreneurship that people don’t always see — the emotional weight of giving so much of yourself in a service-based industry. I’ve had to learn boundaries, balance, and the importance of rest just as much as I’ve learned about skincare and waxing technique.
I believe struggles added texture to my story. Every hardship deepened my purpose, and every setback became a stepping stone toward something softer and wiser.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Moon Glow Esthetics is more than a waxing studio — it’s a space designed to make people feel at ease, cared for, and confident in their own skin. I specialize in full-body waxing, but what truly sets my work apart is the experience. Every service is rooted in comfort, professionalism, and genuine connection.
Waxing can be such a vulnerable experience, and my goal is always to create an environment where that vulnerability feels safe. I take time to understand my clients’ needs and make sure every visit feels as comfortable as it is empowering. Many leave saying they feel not only smoother, but lighter — and that’s the part I love most about what I do.
Having themed events like Sips and Strips has become a fun extension of that mission — blending self-care with community and creativity. It’s about reminding people that taking care of themselves can be something they actually look forward to.
I want readers to know that Moon Glow Esthetics is rooted in authenticity and care. It’s a space where confidence is nurtured, comfort is prioritized, and transformation — inside and out — happens naturally.
What makes you happy?
Happiness for me comes from finding the most off-putting doll at the antique mall — the thrill of the hunt always gets me. I love wandering through aisles of old things, imagining the stories each item has carried. Being packed shoulder to shoulder at hardcore and pop-punk shows makes me feel alive in a way nothing else does. I love sharing space with creative people I’m lucky to call friends — artists who decorate my body with beautiful work I’m honored to wear. I’m happiest when I’m exploring new places, too — traveling, trying new food, and finding inspiration in different cities. And when the day finally slows down, I’m usually watching a horror movie or documentary with the lights low.
At home, it’s my people (and the dog who thinks he’s a person) who keep me grounded. My children, Ronan and Willow, are so bright, talented, and the funniest kids I’ve ever met; Lemmy, my 55-pound shadow who follows me everywhere and is professionally in the way always; and my rock, John, who’s been the constant through every chapter.
Those are some of the things that refill my cup — music, memories, connection, and the people who make it all mean something.
