Life & Work with Sosanna Will of Hendersonville

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sosanna Will.

Hi Sosanna , so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My story has always been rooted in touch, creativity, and connection. I’ve spent most of my adult life working with my hands—first as a licensed massage therapist, later as a photographer, and now as an educator helping other bodyworkers deepen their craft.

I opened Exhale Massage & Wellness in 2016 with the goal of creating a space where clients could truly exhale—physically and emotionally. Over the years, my practice evolved from simply offering relaxation to focusing on deep tissue and corrective bodywork, and it became a full-time, thriving business built on results and genuine connection with my clients.

In 2024, I expanded that vision and opened Frame On You Photography, a studio next door to Exhale. Photography has always been another form of art and storytelling for me—whether I’m capturing the strength and vulnerability of a boudoir session, the grit of a musician on stage, or the quiet beauty of a farmer and his horse at sunset. It’s another way I get to witness people—really see them—and help them see themselves differently too.

This coming year, I am stepping into teaching, launching Elevated Bodywork Institute, as a continuing education brand for massage therapists. I wanted to raise the standard of touch in our industry—teaching techniques like deep tissue, active release, and muscle energy work in a way that’s approachable, science-based, and sustainable for therapists’ bodies.

So today, my work has become this full circle of healing and art: helping people feel better in their skin, helping them see themselves in a new light, and helping other therapists grow in both skill and confidence. None of it was an overnight path—it was built through years of grit, growth, and a deep belief that both healing and creativity come from the same place: connection.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I don’t think any road worth traveling is ever truly smooth. Building multiple businesses from the ground up has taken grit, late nights, and a lot of learning the hard way.

When I first started Exhale Massage & Wellness, I was a one-woman show—handling clients, bookkeeping, marketing, laundry, and everything in between. There were seasons where burnout was real, and I had to learn how to set boundaries, raise prices, and value my time without guilt.

When I opened Frame On You Photography, it came with its own set of challenges—stepping into a new industry meant rebuilding credibility from scratch, even though I’d been creating art for years. I had to learn how to merge the creative and business sides of photography while staying true to my artistic voice.

And as I began developing continuing education courses for massage therapists, I faced the challenge of navigating the approval process, writing curriculum, and finding my footing as an educator instead of just a practitioner. But through each phase, I’ve learned that struggle is part of growth—it refines your purpose.

I’ve had moments of doubt, exhaustion, and imposter syndrome, but I’ve also had moments of deep pride watching my students succeed, my clients heal, and my creative work find its own voice. The road hasn’t been smooth, but it’s been incredibly worth it.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
At my core, I’m both a healer and an artist. My work lives at the intersection of bodywork, creativity, and connection.

Through Exhale Massage & Wellness, I specialize in deep tissue and corrective therapy—techniques that not only relieve pain but help clients understand their bodies better. My approach blends anatomy, intuition, and years of hands-on experience. I’m known for being results-driven, but also for creating a space that feels safe and grounded—where people can truly let go.

Through Frame On You Photography, I take that same philosophy and apply it to storytelling. I specialize in boudoir, portrait, and musician photography—work that celebrates strength, authenticity, and emotion. Whether it’s a woman seeing herself with new confidence, or a musician captured mid-song, my goal is to pull out the raw, real parts of people and frame them in a way that feels powerful.

And with Elevated Bodywork Institute, I’m channeling years of experience into education—teaching continuing education courses that help other therapists grow their skill and longevity in the field. I’m proud to be building something that raises the standard for touch in our industry and gives therapists tools that protect their own bodies while improving their results.

What sets me apart is that I don’t separate any of it. Massage, photography, teaching—they’re all extensions of the same purpose: helping people feel seen, capable, and connected in their own skin.

Any big plans?
The future feels exciting right now. I’m in a season of growth and alignment—where all the pieces of my work are finally starting to weave together in a way that feels really intentional.

For Exhale Massage & Wellness, I’m continuing to refine the client experience and add more specialized therapeutic options that truly support long-term results. For Frame On You Photography, I’m expanding into more creative collaborations—working with local artists, musicians, and brands who value authentic storytelling and raw emotion in imagery.

And one of my biggest focuses moving forward is growing Elevated Bodywork Institute. I’m developing a full curriculum of NCBTMB-approved continuing education courses, including both in-person and online offerings. The goal is to empower other massage therapists to build sustainable, skill-based practices that last—both physically and financially.

In short, I’m building a future that blends education, creativity, and connection—one that gives back to the community that’s supported me. I’ve learned that when your work is aligned with your purpose, it naturally evolves into something bigger than you imagined. That’s the space I’m stepping into now.
