Today we’d like to introduce you to Maria West.
Hi Maria , so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My name is Maria and I first started modeling back in 2021. Through modeling Ive met so many great people and some not so great. In 2023 I had a lot of friends and models come to me feeling unsafe in the community and asked me if I could possibly take their photo. Having an art background I figured it couldn’t be too difficult so I picked up a camera and started shooting. It’s now been two years and I’ve had the opportunity to work with some amazing people and I’ve even had the opportunity to work with the Nashville Fantasy Ball, Hair of the dragon , and Yamacon. How I got here today is through hard work and determination but I couldn’t have done it without my amazing support system and all the models I’ve been so honored to work with and get to know.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road has been long and there has been so many obstacles along the way. There is unfortunately a lot of gate keeping within the community such as not sharing locations and more. There are also people who will try and bring you down and create issues within the community itself but the best thing to do is be yourself, and know who you are as a photographer and person.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in portrait and creative photography! I’m definitely most known for my creative portraits and use of lighting in my photography. I’m most proud of all the creatives I’ve been able to work with to bring their and my vision to life through photos. What sets me apart from others is that I will do whatever it takes to being your vision to life, we can shoot for 30 minutes or an hour we will capture that perfect image.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I’m not sure if luck has ever played a part in my photography. With my art background I already came with a ton of knowledge about editing, and I’ve been modeling for 3 years I also knew what a lot of models were looking for in their photo’s.
