Inspiring Conversations with Sandie Scott of Cherry Pie Vintage

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sandie Scott.

Hi Sandie, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started Cherry Pie Vintage at the beginning of this year as a passion project! I’ve always loved vintage clothes and growing up my mom and sisters always loved going to thrift stores and garage sales together. I grew up in a really small town in southern Kansas, so I never though twice about selling vintage being a business opportunity. When I moved to Nashville in 2021, I started stumbling upon vintage markets and saw the opportunity, but wrestled with a lot of self doubt. I finally decided that this is the year that I would do something for me and got to work! For me, it’s about doing something I love and connecting with and creating a community. The best part is meeting new people and sharing stories and interests! I love that the practice is also sustainable and affordable, especially in today’s society of fast fashion and ever evolving trends. I hope to continue to connect with new people and foster the community of vintage lovers!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been an easy endeavor. I also work full time, got married and got my master’s degree while starting Cherry Pie Vintage, so to say I was busy is an understatement! But, I continued to prove to myself that I can do anything I set my mind to. I started with a logo and went from there! I used my weekends to source products and start reaching out to secure spots at local markets. Weather has also been a challenge for me, all the rain has really hindered the outdoor market business and I even had a market where it unexpectedly downpoured and i unfortunately lost a lot of my inventory to water damage. Despite all the challenges, I wouldn’t change anything! The experience and the support I have received in the process has really propelled me through the obstacles. I’m so glad I took the leap and did something solely for myself and that I’m passionate about!

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Cherry Pie Vintage?
Cherry Pie Vintage is solely run by me! I specialize in vintage women’s clothing and accessories! My selection is very curated and feels more like a boutique setup. I really hone in on a specific aesthetic and create an easily shoppable experience, especially for those who may be new to the vintage clothing world! My goal is for someone to come to my booth and be able to create a whole outfit from my selection! I also create curated style bundles where clients can send me certain styles and looks they would like to achieve with their sizing and I go out and source pieces to bring this vision to life! I’m proud of the fact that I go above and beyond to create a brand presence so that when people shop with me they know what they can expect and they can easily share their experience with friends and family.

How do you think about luck?
Truly I believe that my hard work and determination has created “luck” for my business. Not necessarily that I have gotten “lucky,” but that I have stayed so dedicated that I have brought about/manifested my own luck. If you set your mind to something and you give it your all, naturally things fall in to place for you.
