Ashley Gerlach is the owner and stylist behind To Dye For by Ashley Gerlach in Lebanon, TN. Her journey started with a love for creativity and connection — turning simple hair appointments into confidence-boosting experiences. Ashley built her salon to be a space where people can relax, laugh, and leave feeling like the best version of themselves. She’s best known for her vivid color work, custom cuts, and services that make every client shine, from Brazilian blowouts to spray tans and hair tinsel. What began as a passion has grown into a thriving salon built on authenticity, artistry, and the joy of helping others feel truly to dye for.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Like many small business owners, I’ve definitely faced my share of challenges along the way. Building To Dye For from the ground up took a lot of long hours, self-doubt, and trial and error. There were times when balancing creativity, business, and personal life felt overwhelming, especially when I was first trying to grow my clientele and establish my name in the community. But every challenge pushed me to grow stronger—not just as a stylist, but as a business owner and person. I’ve learned that resilience, passion, and staying true to your vision can carry you through anything.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m most known for my vivid, creative hair color work and for making every client feel comfortable, confident, and seen. I love bringing bold color ideas to life — whether it’s bright rainbow blends, soft pastels, or something totally custom — but I also focus on healthy, beautiful hair that fits each person’s vibe and lifestyle. What sets me apart is the experience I create. My clients know they can relax, laugh, and be themselves in my chair. It’s not just about hair — it’s about helping people feel to dye for inside and out.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
I owe so much of my success to the people who have believed in me from the very beginning. My clients have been my biggest supporters — they’ve trusted me with their hair, shared my work, and helped me grow through word of mouth more than anything else ever could. My family and friends have always been there cheering me on, reminding me to keep pushing even when things got hard. It’s their love, trust, and encouragement that have carried me through every challenge. I might be the one behind the chair, but my success truly belongs to everyone who’s been part of this journey with me.
