Today we’d like to introduce you to Samantha La Deaux.
Hi Samantha, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve always been that person who sees a brand or website and instantly starts thinking, “Okay, here’s what would make this work better.” I started my career in the corporate creative and tech world, learning how strategy, design, and marketing all fit together to actually move the needle for businesses.
After years of building things for other people, I realized I wanted to build something of my own — something that let me combine creativity with real strategy. That’s when I started Nolen Creative. The goal was simple: help small businesses, associations, and nonprofits get clear on their message and build brands and websites that don’t just look good, but actually work.
Over time, my role’s evolved from being the designer doing all the things to more of a creative director and strategist. These days, I help clients make confident marketing decisions, keeping their visuals consistent, and making sure everything they put out into the world reflects who they really are.
At the heart of it, I love helping people see what’s possible for their brand — and then actually bringing that vision to life.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road — but I don’t think it’s supposed to be. Building a business is equal parts creative freedom and constant learning curves. When I first started Nolen Creative, I was doing everything myself: design, development, marketing, project management, billing — all of it. I had to learn how to balance the creative side with the business side, and that took time (and a few late nights).
One of the biggest challenges was learning to set boundaries — with time, with scope, and even with my own expectations. It’s easy to say yes to everything when you’re building momentum, but I quickly realized that growth doesn’t come from doing more; it comes from doing the right things.
Another big shift was learning to delegate and trust others with my vision. Letting go of control can be tough when your name’s on the door, but building a team has been the best decision for both the quality of our work and my sanity.
There have definitely been bumps, but each one taught me something important — mostly that clarity, communication, and consistency always win in the long run.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Right now, my focus is on growing Nolen Creative into a creative studio that blends strategy, design, and marketing under one roof — a place where small businesses and associations can find clarity, consistency, and confidence in how they show up online.
I’m building a team that thinks like strategists and creates like artists — people who care just as much about why something works as how it looks. Long-term, I want Nolen Creative to be known for more than beautiful design. I want it to be the go-to partner for organizations that want a brand and website built with purpose — something that supports their mission and makes their marketing easier, not harder.
Success, for me, isn’t about growing fast — it’s about growing intentionally. It’s seeing clients thrive because their brand finally works for them. That’s what keeps me excited about what’s next.
What does success mean to you?
For me, success isn’t about the number of clients or the size of the projects; it’s about impact and alignment. It’s when the work I do genuinely helps someone move forward with clarity and confidence.
On a personal level, success means having the freedom to do meaningful work without sacrificing the things that matter most: family, creativity, and time to breathe. I built Nolen Creative to support that balance, not compete with it.
Professionally, it’s about creating a business that’s sustainable, respected, and known for integrity; where every project feels intentional, not rushed. When clients tell me that working with us made their life easier, clearer, or more exciting, that’s the real win.
