Meet Cody Weaver of Ft Myers FL

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cody Weaver.

Hi Cody, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’ve been around music most of my life, I grew up on bluegrass, gospel, southern rock and country, and I’ve always had a guitar close by. I played in several church and local bars long before I ever thought of music as a “career.” Life took me in a few directions for a while, but music never really left the picture. Even when I was working full time, I was still writing, recording, and playing shows whenever I could.

When my time with the fire department came to an end, it kind of lit that spark to go all in. Since then, I’ve been putting my energy into writing songs that feel real. Stories you can hear yourself in. I’m still growing, still learning, but I’m exactly where I want to be: making honest music and connecting with people through it.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Smooth? Not exactly, but I don’t think it’s supposed to be. The bumps in the road gave me my voice. I’ve had seasons where I was burning the candle at both ends, trying to keep music alive while juggling work, bills, and life in general, wondering if it was all worth it, there’s been plenty of times I’ve wondered if I was doing the right thing, There were times when it felt like nobody was listening, but I kept showing up.

Just this year my wife (Britney) had a pretty scary medical thing happen that threatened her life as well as our unborn daughter. Thank God she made it through and our little girl will be here in time for Christmas. As difficult as that journey alone has been, it’s already ignited the start new music, new directions, and a new zeal for life. So even in the hard times, we’re filled with gratitude.

Looking back, I think those struggles shaped the way I write & how I view the world and this life here in it. There’s a little bit of sweat, a little bit of heartbreak, and a lot of persistence behind every song. I wouldn’t trade that for an easier path.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, focused on southern and soulful rock with a storytelling edge. My solo work is where I explore personal stories and experiences, creating songs that feel lived-in and real, the kind listeners can see themselves in.

People recognize me for writing music that is gritty and honest, yet still melodic and memorable. I’m proud of the songs I’ve released and the connection I get to build with fans. there is nothing like seeing someone respond to a lyric or a line you’ve poured yourself into.

What sets me apart is the blend of raw emotion and authenticity in my music. I am not afraid of a little imperfection if it serves the story, and that human touch, the grit and personality, is what makes the songs stick and feel real, and in today’s era of AI and social media, I think something real is what we all crave.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
I spend a lot of time reading and listening to anything related to ancient history, theology, and philosophy. Stoicism in particular has been a big influence on how I think about life and creativity. As for podcasts, I’m drawn to ones that explore those same topics; history, philosophy, and theology because they make me think and give me new perspectives I can bring into my music.

Meditations by Marcus Aurelius
The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz
The Obstacle Is The Way by Ryan Holiday

I enjoy the Shawn Ryan Show, Joe Rogan, Jordan B Peterson (I know, sue me)

Anything that makes me think.
