Hi Jade, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I have lived in middle TN for nearly 16 years, my family absolutely loves it here. Unfortunately, all of our immediate family still lives in Ohio. However, a few years ago, we met a family that moved to Nolensville and instantly became best friends. They essentially became our family of the South. Brandis has been like a brother to me and has been in construction for 20 years and is incredible. He is a wealth of knowledge. He brought up the crazy idea of us starting our own construction business a couple of years ago. As time passed and the more we discussed it, it was no longer a crazy idea. We made the jump and said let’s do this!
The keys for us were to not be just another construction company. We wanted the experience to be better from start to finish. Trustworthy, transparency, licensed, insured, design team available for clients, and incredible attention to detail. We also wanted to be transparent so that clients knew they were getting great work and great value.
I’m so happy that Brandis kept pushing me and we made the jump!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has been smoother than expected. We thought that it would take several years to build, but we have exploded in the first few months. Middle TN is definitely looking for a trustworthy home improvement partner like D&D. Our biggest challenge as a new business is cash flow. We don’t want to request too much money up front for supplies, but it has been a necessity until we build a longer runway with more cashflow flexibility.
