Today we’d like to introduce you to Aundra Lafayette.

Hi Aundra, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Hello. My name is Aundra Lafayette. Known as the SoupLady of Nashville.
After teaching Dance for 40 years. I Wanted to find a way to give back but also away to teach people how to eat properly and love on self. Soup worked for me!!!!
When I lived in the Berkshires I fell in Love with the Red Lion Inn a popular and well known Bed & Breakfast located in Stockbridge Massachusetts where I lived for 5 years teaching Dance at Desisto School, a therapeutic boarding school. The workload was pretty intense. I would use my night off to refuel. Rest and look forward to another day teaching Dance and working on performances.

Preparing soup and using local farmers food is the best thing going for me. It definitely puts a smile on my face when I can fed people with safe, good, beautiful and healthy food.

Soup to me is a must, it nourishes the body and serves as fuel as it enters the body. With every spoonful of nourishing Soup you get a variety of flavors the will satisfy your taste buds.

I make all kinds of soup from veggie, stews, bisques, pot roasts, vegan, vegetarian and seafood.
I prepare lentils and chicken soup every week.

My latest project is my cookbook that I published in June. Its a book filled with family, fun and beautiful pics of my beautiful soups. You can find my book on Amazon, titled SoupLady. Feel free to check it out

My soups are made with Compfort, Passion and Love. There are hugs in every bowl. Let my soup take you to far away places where you can imagine yourself in the country where your particular soup is from like Italy, where that delicious meatball soup or the Italian wedding soup or even the chicken and pasta soup.

Let my soup, the “SoupLady ” soup take you far far away.

Come see me at the Richland Park Farmer’s Market every Saturday from 9-12, after Christmas, in January from 10-12 00 every Saturday.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t been too bad. After being in business for eleven years I try and push my self to work smarter not harder.
Preparing food for people is very satisfying but also scary because people have to like, enjoy and appreciate your food. After those challenges are met things will began to run very smoothly.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My Artistic sideI am very proud of. I have taught Dance for 40 years. I began my professional career teaching Dance in Washington DC out of the department of recreation.
I attended Philadelphia Dance Academy in Philadelphia. A private dance academy with special training for those who were interested in performing or teaching.

I taught Dance to all intercity children. I loved that because you have all of theat raw talent to work with and help the children find their way and to figure out how they want to fit their talent into their lives. To help shape their goals and find their way to greatness.

As a performer I have been very blessed. I have performed in Antigua, Guatemala & Russia, so far as me being out of the country.
Since I have returned home I have performed many times at OzArts of Nashville, with the Nashville Ballet a couple of years ago and with the Shackled Feet Dance Company.
Very honored. I have a performance in December at OzArts of Nashville

Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
No!!! My favorite thing to do is to watch people, listen to jazz, and meditate. I love to watch all of the cooking shows on the food network
Love going out to eat wonderful and beautiful food.
