Hi Brittany, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Hey there!
I started my love of costuming back in high school! I created my first real cosplay in 2012 for an Anime Convention. Final Fantasy was my favorite game series, and I wanted a challenge. Sooo, Cait Sith was born!
I won an award with him, and it pushed me to keep going.
Since then, I’ve gotten to work for a ton of haunted houses, had costumes on the travel channel, worked on music video sets, and more!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has ups and down!
I’ve done work in the haunted attraction industry, and I’ve also just worked for myself. Deadlines and budgets in the haunt industry can be really tight, so it’s usually a lot more challenging.
I’m going to be working on my own projects again soon, and I’m excited for the creative freedom.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a Costume Artist, and a Special Effects Makeup Artist.
I say Costume Artist because I do so many different roles in costuming. On movie sets, you have one person for sewing the costumes, one for distressing, one for props, one for accessories, etc, but I do all of those things. I love fabricating big pieces and making things that stand out in a crowd. Illusion costumes are my favorite, and I’m excited to start my next one.
I’m so proud of my mermaid Illusion costume, and I am also really proud of my Gingerbread man.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
I’ve had a lot of help along the way!
From my mom always making sure to get me new makeup for Christmas and encouraging me.
My Dad always encouraging me and taking me to conventions to help keep me safe in big costumes.
Brandon, my partner, who lets me turn our home into a world of chaos while I make costumes.
My son who now is old enough to bring his own ideas to the table.
And my right hand, Cassandra, who has been through more projects and costumes with me than I can count.
I’ve met a lot of cool people in the haunted house and creative worlds too.
I’m really grateful to all of my supporters and the people who share my work.
