Today we’d like to introduce you to Malika Williams.
Hi Malika, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
In a world where grace and compassion are needed more than ever, Malika Sabän Williams stands as a radiant voice of civility, resilience, and purpose. A Master Certified Etiquette Consultant, author, and public speaker, she is the founder of Excuse Me, Please Etiquette Company, where she empowers children and adults to walk in confidence, kindness, and polished social presence.
A proud alumna of Lane College, with a B.A. in Communications and an MBA from the University of Phoenix, Malika further refined her craft through professional etiquette certifications from the American School of Protocol in Atlanta and From the Inside-Out School of Etiquette, LLC., in Florida. Her work is rooted in a lifelong passion for elevating character, confidence, and respect—proving that manners still matter, and grace never goes out of style.
Beyond her commitment to refinement and social excellence, Malika is a powerful grief advocate. After the passing of her beloved husband, Danny, just 14 months into their marriage, she walked through heartbreak and healing with faith as her anchor. She is currently working on her grief memoir, Selfish Grief: Redefining Healing after Loss, which is set to be released this holiday season—a bold and empowering testament that life after loss is real, attainable, and beautifully possible. Through speaking engagements, writing, and community support, she reminds others that healing is a choice, legacy is love, and joy can return.
Whether teaching etiquette or guiding hearts through grief, Malika leads with elegance, empathy, and unshakable faith—helping others rise, rebuild, and live fully with purpose and grace.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Like many entrepreneurial journeys, it hasn’t always been a smooth ride. One of the biggest challenges I’ve faced with my etiquette company is simply society’s awareness of the value of etiquette. Many people don’t realize they need these skill sets, confidence, poise, social awareness, kindness, until they either find themselves embarrassed in a situation or deeply uncomfortable in certain rooms and settings.
Because of that, a major part of my work has been helping people understand that etiquette isn’t about perfection or ‘properness’, it’s about equipping yourself to show up confidently and respectfully in every space you enter. Manners still matter, and they impact relationships, opportunities, and everyday life.
Another challenge has been gaining access to school districts so children can begin learning these skills early. Even though I deeply believe etiquette is essential to a child’s social and emotional development, it’s often not viewed as part of standard curriculum. But even with these challenges, I remain committed. I continue showing up, pushing forward, and teaching as many individuals, families, and organizations as I can about the art of etiquette and the lifelong power of kindness.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
At my core, I help people become the best version of themselves, socially, emotionally, and spiritually. Through Excuse Me, Please Etiquette Company, I specialize in social and professional etiquette for children, teens, and adults. I’m known for making etiquette feel accessible, modern, and empowering rather than stiff or intimidating. I teach practical life skills, confidence, communication, kindness, poise, and how to show up well in every room you enter.
I’m also a grief advocate, walking alongside individuals who are navigating the hardest seasons of their lives. After losing my husband, I found purpose in helping others move from silent suffering to intentional healing. I teach what I call ‘grief etiquette’, how to honor your emotions, how to support someone who is grieving, and how to build a life that makes room for both sorrow and hope. I’m currently working on my grief memoir, Selfish Grief: Redefining Healing After Loss, which will be released soon.
What I’m most proud of is the transformation I get to witness. Whether it’s a child who suddenly feels confident holding a conversation, a teen who learns to sit a little taller, or an adult who finally understands how to support a grieving loved one, these are life-changing skills. It’s the human impact that matters most to me.
What sets me apart is my ability to blend grace, empathy, and real-life transparency. I don’t just teach etiquette, I embody it. And I don’t just talk about grief, I’ve lived it, healed through it, and now help others do the same. My work is grounded in compassion, faith, and a genuine desire to elevate people. My clients trust me because I create safe spaces where they can grow, heal, and flourish.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
The most important lesson I’ve learned on this journey is that purpose is often born out of pain, and preparation is hidden inside every season of life, even the difficult ones. Losing my husband taught me how fragile life is, but it also revealed how strong, resilient, and called I am. It showed me that healing is not only possible, it’s promised.
I also learned that kindness and grace will open doors that talent alone cannot. In my etiquette work, I see every day that people respond to how you treat them. Manners matter, compassion matters, and being intentional with how you show up in the world matters.
This journey has taught me to trust God’s timing, embrace the assignments He gives me, and stay committed even when the path isn’t easy. Every lesson, personal, professional, and spiritual, has shaped me into the woman I am today.
