Today we’d like to introduce you to Jet Jurgensmeyer.
Hi Jet, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started out on stage when I was 3 years old at the Nashville Palace. It’s a restaurant that my parents owned at the time and I always wanted to be on stage performing. When I was 4, we had some friends (the Mandrell family), tell my parents to try acting with me. They had a friend that was an agent and I started going out on auditions. About a year later we went to LA and it sort of just snowballed into me working consistently. I was always busy doing voiceovers and life action things in California. When I was about 11 I started writing songs and performing out more, and from then on it was a lot of music. We’ve spent the last few years really working hard on building the albums I’ve put out, and even spent this past summer on the road for most of it. Next year is supposed to be even crazier, but I’m so thankful and blessed because it’s been a long, but fun journey.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. This is a very up and down business. It’s like how you have quarterly or yearly performance reviews from your boss if you work a corporate job… only it’s everyday and the audience will either clearly enjoy you or clearly not enjoy you at all. I always say that you have to be willing to hear the word “no” in order to hear “yes.” The lows of not getting a role in a movie that you really wanted, or not getting as many streams on a song that you loved, makes the highs of all those things feel so good. It’s amazing when you can get the affirmation of the hard work paying off right in front of you.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I like that I can look back on my life, and really appreciate what I accomplished. I’ve been really fortunate and blessed to work with some pretty incredible people, and I try to not take it for granted. Being able to stand on stage with George Jones, and work with Clint Eastwood and Bradley Cooper are some really awesome memories. Also being able to work with Tim Allen, who was a HUGE part of my childhood with Buzz Lightyear and Santa Clause. These are all memories and things that I can look back at and really be proud of what I’ve been able to accomplish.
Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
I have a bunch that I can think of so it’s hard to pick just one. Any time I got to go to the farm with my Grandfather and sit in the tractor with him while he mowed hay was always my favorite thing! I also love any memories of spending time with my cousins. As an only child, I really cherish the moments with the people that are like siblings to me. I love my family and they have always supported me, even when I’ve been gone for a while. I know they’ll always have my back and welcome me with open arms when I come back home.
