Hidden Gems: Meet Michelle Lorge of Pitch Candy PR

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michelle Lorge.

Hi Michelle, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’m the Owner of Pitch Candy PR, a boutique publicity firm in Nashville. I’ve spent the majority of my life working in music and have spent the past twenty years specifically helping artists find their voice, develop their brand and create opportunities for them to share their music and story.

Before launching Pitch Candy PR, I graduated from Belmont University and started my career at Sony Music Nashville. I went on to work with multiple boutique publicity agencies. As a result, I led PR campaigns for many A-list celebrities in Country and Americana music genres.

Growing up, I was a songwriter and musician myself, and toured as a duet with my sister. I always dreamed of working in the music industry in some capacity, and eventually moved to Nashville when I was 19 years old.

Along the way, I had several mentors who taught me the ins and outs of relationship building, the nuts and bolts of good storytelling, how to pitch and secure placements for clients and so much more.

As both a singer-songwriter/musician and publicist, I have a unique lens when it comes to helping artists build their careers and expand their reach. The most gratifying part of the process is being able to help an artist sell out a tour, land an Opry debut or a national TV appearance, and help them grow their careers- it’s really amazing to be a part of their success and journey.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
When I started my PR Firm it was literally a leap of faith. I trusted that my reputation and hard work would shine through and luckily it did. After that, the next challenge became navigating how to run the business. There’s no rule book to running your own company. At the end of the day, you’re steering the ship and your clients’ success is largely on you. As the owner, you have to wear multiple hats including – client work, business development, operations – all while staying focused on the bigger picture and the creative side of the business.

I’m grateful for the amazing work that we’ve accomplished at Pitch Candy PR so far. We’ve had a lot of referrals through word of mouth and a lot of returning clients. I think people can feel when you genuinely care. Ultimately, that is what builds trust with artists, journalists and audiences.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Pitch Candy PR?
