Daily Inspiration: Meet Caroline Stowe

Today we’d like to introduce you to Caroline Stowe.

Hi Caroline, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Moving to Nashville four years ago marked the beginning of a new chapter for my family, and becoming an author was an unexpected plot twist for me. Prior to this, I’d spent the past twenty years as an Air Force spouse and stay-at-home mom, raising our three daughters and navigating frequent moves around the country. After my husband’s retirement from the military, we decided to make the move to Tennessee, and I found myself exploring fresh opportunities for this new season. With a degree in corporate communications and a background in pharmaceutical sales, writing a romance novel wasn’t initially on my radar. But as a lifelong bookworm, I have always had a love for storytelling, and eventually I decided to try my hand at writing one of my own.

Drawing on inspiration from the incredible military community I’d been a part of for so many years, as well as the heartwarming stories I’ve loved all my life, I sat down and began to pen my first novel Wishing for Christmas. A year after completing the manuscript (to the date) I landed a publishing deal with Harpeth Road Press. Many pages and countless hours later, I finished writing my second book. Currently, I’m working on my latest project, enjoying the journey, and learning so much in the process.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road to publication is rarely straightforward, especially for someone who didn’t know anything about the process going into it. There was so much I needed to learn, beginning with the biggest challenge: how to get started. I had to draw up an outline, set goals, create characters, and each step came with its own obstacles. There were days when I would stare at a blank page, wondering how I’d ever write enough words to make up a chapter, let alone an entire book. Once I finally completed a first draft, the arduous process of editing and revising my manuscript took just as long as the initial writing phase. There was plenty of waiting required along the way too, and I learned that finding the right publisher for your work is often dependent on patience, perseverance, and fortunate timing.

Ultimately, it all came together, and my book found its ideal publishing home with Harpeth Road. But then I still had a lot of work to do, including going through a year-long editing process, building a social media presence from scratch, and learning all the intricate ropes of becoming an author. It’s been quite an education, but I’m grateful for it all.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I love writing heartwarming love stories set in beautiful locations that leave readers feeling uplifted and hopeful. My debut novel Wishing for Christmas takes place in a picturesque, snow-filled New England town. It’s an inspiring romance about a new relationship that is forced to be put on hold for a military deployment—until a magical wish changes everything. It’s a story about what would happen if we could skip over the hard things in life. So often, we are tempted to run from life’s biggest challenges or to avoid the things that take the most time. But when we do that, we often deny ourselves, and our relationships, of the valuable time needed to grow. The concept of the book was inspired by my personal experience and the lessons I took away from my time as a military spouse. It was an unpredictable and challenging lifestyle at times, but incredibly rewarding too.

My second release, coming spring 2026, is another delightful romance set in one of the most charming places in the world. Stay tuned for more details!

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Caroline Stowe is my pen name. I lived in Vermont as a child, and there’s no place more enchanting than Stowe, Vermont—especially at Christmas. It is one of my family’s favorite places to vacation, and the town served as inspiration for a pen name, as well as the fictional town of Cranberry Pines featured in Wishing for Christmas.
