Today we’d like to introduce you to Sequoia Newland.
Hi Sequoia, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I got my start in music when I was stationed overseas. I picked up the guitar for the first time when I was 21 years old and haven’t looked back since.
Through the years I’ve grinded it out show by show chasing dive bars all across the USA.
I’ve had a few bumps in the road along the way, one being I cut the tip of my ring finger off in my frett hand back in 2019. I now play the guitar with just 3 fingers on my frett hand hand.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has its moments. I cut the tip of my ring finger off in 2019 so that was a bit of a set back.
But there’s no quit in my bones.
We’ve been extremely blessed to be direct support for some of the biggest names in country music like, Drew Parker, Casey donahew, Aaron tippon and many more unbelievable talents.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a country music singer songwriter, I guess what sets me apart from other artist is the drive that I have. Like anything in life. You’re going to go through lulls and hard times. Most people just quit or give up. I lean into the pain and keep pushing. Character is developed in those hard moments.
Musically I’m most proud of the fact that my song Raised rank will have 2 million views on YouTube by the end of 2025.
People are staring to recognize all of our hard work and it’s very satisfying.
What makes you happy?
Seeing someone in the crowd locked in and connecting the songs I write to their life. Then making that actual connection with that person after the show.
We don’t have just fans we make life long friends.
There’s just something special about being able to connect with a complete stranger over a story you’ve had in your life that you put into song.
