Hi Lucy, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: Would YOU hire you? Why or why not?
I would definitely hire me. My goal is to make my customers happy with my arrangements. I always want to think outside the box and envision what they would want, and the end result is a happy customer.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Lucy Ampela, and I always wanted to be a floral designer. I went to floral school in Chicago and that is where it all began. I started my own business in the suburbs of Chicago focusing on boxed rose designs. Now living in the Murfreesboro area, not only am I making boxed rose arrangements, I began making money bouquets, and extra large rose bouquets, also known as Ramos buchones. My roses consist of premium quality fresh roses and preserved roses ordered directly from a rose farm in Ecuador. These beautiful roses last up to a year or more and are available in a variety of colors. What’s even more impressive is that they still look like fresh roses, but you don’t need to water them and most importantly, they last longer than fresh roses. A huge savings!
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
When I was younger, I was very introverted. I keep mostly to myself as a child and primarily I believe it was because I didn’t have any siblings. But as I grew older, I was encouraged by my father that I can do anything if I put my mind to it. And so I did. And here I am today, outgoing and a go getter to make it happen.
What fear has held you back the most in your life?
My biggest fear was can I do it and can I succeed? And so, I put my positive attitude in front of me and made it happen.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My friends will always say that my confidence and determination makes me who I am today.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
You can do anything that you want to do! Just do it and be determined to do it and never give up! You will have your ups and downs, but just do it!
