Hidden Gems: Meet Ornit Aroni of Nova market and cafe

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ornit Aroni.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Came to the United States 17 years ago, found myself moving from one state to another and from one job to another, until eventually created roots for myself in Nashville, started a few small businesses in TN and other states and decided after 4 years to close/sell them and take a breather… worked at genesis diamonds for 1 year and finally had my idea! The first israeli kosher grocery store in Nashville!
The kosher section at kroger in bellmeade was the closest thing we had to home and they closed…
It was time! I just went for it, no loans, no contractors, just myself, my mom and a bit of help from friends…
We have now been open 5 months and we are growing! We now have a full menu in our cafe section and we cater lots of events!
The main goal is to be there for the community! A place where everyone is welcomed!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Definitely not smooth but we pulled through!
Not getting a loan from the bank
Trying to get all of the products in from Israel
Not knowing this market good enough yet
2 days in since we got the key we realized the ac was broken and needed to be replaced
And more haha

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
We are the ONLY Kosher store in Nashville, where all jews and none jews can eat in, regardless of religion observance.
We carry specialty items from israel specifically and cook everything fresh in house!
We have fresh baked good daily, with lots of groceries, great coffee, a large verity of menu items, breakers and brunch all day, and we just added a lunch special last month! We serve soup, fish, starch, veggies daily and we never serve the same thing twice! Every time you’ll walk in, you’ll have a different flavor! All authentic

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Im and open book, so everyone knows everything haha
My face won’t let me hide a thing even if I wanted too
