Today we’d like to introduce you to Poonam Bhardwaj.
Hi Poonam, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My name is Poonam Bhardwaj. I earned my Master’s degree in International Business and currently reside in Franklin, Tennessee, with my husband, two sons, and our adorable dog, Mellow.
In 2016, I embarked on a journey to establish my own business, motivated by a genuine market need I identified. I commenced my venture Inflair Boutique with modest steps, initially operating from my home and diligently comprehending my clients’ requirements while cultivating robust relationships.
Inflair Boutique, located conveniently in The Avenue, Suite 760, Murfreesboro, Tennessee, is easily accessible to everyone. With ample parking, it’s a short drive from the I24 Interstate highway, making it a convenient destination for customers from various parts of the town.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Despite the challenges encountered during the journey, I firmly believe that every obstacle imparts valuable lessons and fortifies our resolve. In 2019, our store in Franklin, Tennessee, was compelled to close due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Nevertheless, we persevered by working remotely and ultimately reopened our doors to the public at Inflair Boutique in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, in 2023.
Retail brick-and-mortar stores face additional challenges, including the rise of online shopping and the increasing imposition of import tariffs.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Inflair Boutique?
At Inflair Boutique, we serve as your go-to destination for Indian ethnic wear for men, women, and children. Our mission is to inspire our customers to embrace their true selves and exude confidence in their appearance, both in their looks and in their outfits.
We firmly believe in providing exceptional customer service. Our goal is to ensure that every customer leaves our store with a smile and a sense of satisfaction. We take the time to guide our customers in selecting the perfect outfits for various occasions, sometimes spending hours with them to help them make informed choices. We offer a personalized experience that is difficult to find anywhere else, whether online or in other stores. Additionally, we are delighted to teach our customers how to wear and care for their outfits.
Quality control is of utmost importance to us at Inflair Boutique. We personally select each and every product and only add it to our collection if it meets our stringent quality standards.
Our boutique boasts a diverse range of Indian ethnic wear for women, men, and children. Some of our popular items are listed below, along with their descriptions. It’s challenging to list all of them, as we offer a wide variety of styles and clothing materials.
Saree, a traditional Indian ethnic attire for women, is renowned for its beauty and elegance. A six-yard wrap-around saree can transform into a stunning ensemble. It embodies a perfect blend of traditional charm and contemporary style, making it an essential addition to any woman’s wardrobe. Sarees come in various types, each with its unique style and grace. Silk, Linen Silk, Banarasi Silk, Matka Silk, Georgette, and Cotton are just a few examples of the diverse range of sarees available. We offer these authentic sarees at competitive prices.
Salwar Suit, consisting of trousers that are unusually wide at the waist and narrow to a cuffed bottom, is held up by a drawstring or elastic belt, creating pleats around the waist. The kameez, a long shirt or tunic, features side seams left open below the waistline (the opening known as the chaak), providing greater freedom of movement. This combination garment is often referred to as a salwar kurta, salwar suit, or Punjabi suit.
Lehenga, also known as langa, ghagra, chana, pavadai, or lacha, is a form of full-length ankle-length skirt worn by women from the Indian subcontinent. It is long, embroidered, and pleated, serving as the bottom portion of a Gagra choli or Langa Voni. The lehenga is secured at the waist, leaving the lower back and midriff bare. In the Indian subcontinent, various traditional embroidery techniques are applied to lehengas, with Gota patti embroidery being one of the most popular styles for festivals and weddings.
Dupatta, also known as stoles, chunari, chunariya, or odhani, is a shawl-like scarf that is traditionally essential clothing from the Indian subcontinent. The dupatta is most commonly worn as part of the women’s shalwar kameez costume, draped over the kurta and the gharara.
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I enjoy the most creative freedom it provides me. I love selecting fabrics, curating designs, and styling customers in a way that makes them feel confident and happy. Building personal relationships with clients and seeing their satisfaction is the most rewarding part of my work.
On the other hand, it’s a lot of work, and as a single owner of the store, it’s quite hectic to open the store for 7 days. I wish there were holidays we could get to enjoy some free time with friends and family.
