Meet Megan Neal of Megan Neal Counseling

Today we’d like to introduce you to Megan Neal.

Hi Megan, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I was an educator in the public school system for over 10 years, and through that experience I realized I wanted to help families cope more effectively with life’s challenges. At age 42, I returned to school and began my master’s degree at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. A few years later, I entered the field of marriage and family therapy.

I often tell my clients that I truly love what I do. My goal is for each client to feel heard, be motivated toward healing, and know that their life and experiences truly matter.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Going back to school in my 40s wasn’t always easy, but I truly loved it. I enjoyed feeling newly inspired and being able to apply what I was learning to help others. I am honored to witness lives change and humbled to be a small part of that process. I could relate to so many clients who were juggling family, kids, work, school—and life.
Becoming a therapist challenged me to intentionally create and maintain balance through both self-care and caring for others. It has been a meaningful and productive learning journey, and I often tell my clients that I will never ask them to do something in their healing process that I haven’t done myself.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Megan Neal Counseling is located in Hendersonville, TN. I offer both in-person and virtual appointments. I work at building a trusted relationship with my clients, not a clinical one. I want my clients to know that this is not just a job for me but that I chose to spend my days listening and working with people to solve problems, heal from pain, and make healthy decisions that make a difference in their lives and others. I am proud of my clients and their therapeutic work. My brand is a rose logo because I believe that growth is what therapy is about. When clients work at something they should be able to notice growth. That is our top goal.

I work with individuals ages 11 and up who are seeking support for a wide range of concerns, including grief, depression, anxiety, addiction, attachment wounds, trauma, spiritual pain, purity culture, blended families, divorce, life transitions, boundary setting, conflict resolution, fertility struggles, infant loss, and more.
I am certified in Brainspotting and HRV (heart rate variability) biofeedback somatic work. I integrate CBT, EFT, the Gottman Method, Narrative Exposure Therapy, and Biblical counseling when requested. I am also a Prepare/Enrich facilitator for premarital couples.

I chose to be a client-pay service because I did not want insurance to dictate what my clients need. However, I do offer monthly super bills so clients can submit for reimbursement to their insurance company which is often helpful.

I offer 3 types of Sessions:

1. In-Person and Virtual Sessions
50-minute sessions at $135

2. Mini Intensives
This option is appropriate for clients who wish to process trauma in a more concentrated period of time rather than spread out over weeks or months. I require at least two regular-rate intake sessions beforehand to gather enough information to plan a custom mini intensive.
Duration: 4 hours at the regular rate, plus 1 additional hour charged for preparation and documentation.
Includes: an optional 15-minute follow-up call within 7 days and a personalized self-care plan.

3. Intensives
This option is designed for clients with complex trauma or scheduling restrictions who prefer to work in a concentrated format rather than over weeks or months. I require at least two regular-rate intake sessions beforehand to gather enough information to plan a custom intensive.
Duration: 2 days, 4–5 hours per day (depending on progress).
Rate: $1,500 (Friday/Saturday scheduling).
Includes: an optional 15-minute follow-up call within 7 days and a personalized self-care plan.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The most important lesson I have learned is that healing happens when we involve other healthy and hopeful people into our growth. We are meant for community and we mutually benefit from working on ourselves, together.

Pricing:

  • Individual sessions: $135
  • Mini intensives and 2 days intensives available for concentrated trauma work.
