Community Highlights: Meet Brenna O’Brien of Haus of Sovereign

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brenna O’Brien.

Hi Brenna, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Like many therapists, my journey started as a little girl desperate for answers… “Why do these dynamics exist as they do? Am I the problem? And how can I help my loved ones?” As children, we internalize everything as our own, so understanding became my passion. Naturally, I decided I would become a therapist at the young age of seven. And when it came time to choose a career path, there was no question for me.

I have been providing clinical care ever since.

I have worked across various clinical settings from inpatient behavioral health, detox and residential care, outpatient and private practice. I also had the unique opportunity to lead a marketing team that was as also clinical in nature. This experience taught me a lot about running a business. I have been in private practice now for eight years.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
There has absolutely been many growth points along the way. At the time, I absolutely felt the discomfort. Now I see that these were the moments of expansion for my soul.

One theme in my life has been being underestimated as an empathetic female. Seeing kindness as a weakness, boundaries as judgement, or assertive leadership as improper.

I have always been a bit of an outlier, which of course comes with the challenge of being misunderstood. Trusting my own intellect and seeing myself as strong and powerful came with the practice of listening and following my intuition despite industry ideals or standards.

Being fully seen has felt scary when embarking on a journey to do something different.

Ultimately, these challenges have invited me to fully honor my agency and follow my intuition, even when the path is not traditional.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My own healing journey led me down a path of various modalities. While each offered extreme value, I often experienced them in fragmentation. I would access a powerful experience, but return home without a sense of continuity to support the integration.
Haus of Sovereign was born from the desire to create something different…a space where healing becomes an ongoing experience. I envisioned a house that is safe, beautiful, and deeply relational.
I believe we are witnessing a shift in the collective consciousness. Clients are no longer only seeking symptom relief; they are seeking depth. What many people are truly longing for is a deeper relationship with themselves.
When we enter therapy, we are not just examining thoughts or behaviors. We are entering into a conversation with the unconscious. In that way, therapy has always contained a spiritual dimension, whether we name it or not. We believe that symptoms are often signals from the deeper self. Invitations to listen more closely to the parts of us that are asking to be seen.
So often we believe our suffering is about something outside of us. But beneath many struggles is a longing to be witnessed internally. Life itself becomes a mirror, offering us an invitation back to ourselves. As we learn to become our own healers, the process of healing becomes less about fixing and more about remembering.
This is sovereignty.
Haus of Sovereign is a Nashville-based healing studio that offers an integrative approach to mind, body, spirit. Our work bridges clinical psychotherapy with somatic and spiritual practices, honoring embodiment, consciousness, and depth psychology.
We believe that integrating Western psychological science with timeless spiritual principles creates the conditions for deep and sustainable transformation.
We also challenge the assumption that a single clinician must meet all of a client’s needs. Healing is inherently layered and relational. Our model reflects this by bringing together a collaborative community of licensed therapists, holistic practitioners, and intuitive healers.
To support deeper integration, we also offer a Monthly Ritual Membership, which allows clients to move along a curated path across modalities, inviting clients to experience healing as an ongoing ritual within their daily lives.
Our services include trauma therapy, relational therapy, hypnotherapy, ketamine integration therapy, reiki, frequency healing, anger release therapy, art therapy, holistic esthetics, ceremonial sessions, shadow work, soul integration, and intuitive guidance. In addition to individual sessions, we offer groups workshops, intensives, and retreats designed to support healing in both personal and communal spaces.
At its heart, Haus of Sovereign is an invitation to a place where people can step into a deeper relationship with themselves and remember the wisdom that has always lived within them.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
So many deserve credit for supporting me along this journey including all of my own healers, Carolyn Kutsko, PH.d, Julie Gray, and Heather Dawn.

The Healers of HAUS, Addy, Hannah, Vic, Caroline, Whitney, Allie, Kaylee, Hollin, Kristin, Fairlight, Indigo, Lori and Parsa who support our mission and provide unparalleled client care. Without the healers, Haus does not exist.

My husband, John Robert who is always encouraging me to be my highest and best self. And of course my furry family, Reau and Salem who are their own beautiful class of souls who model unconditional love.
