Today we’d like to introduce you to Austin Schroeder.
Hi Austin, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I was born and raised on a farm in rural Illinois. In 2020, I graduated college with my bachelor’s degree in operations and supply chain management, the first in my family to graduate college. I started Hound Home Inspection in May 2025 after being laid off from the supply chain management job I held for 5 years. There was a need for honest, efficient, and friendly home inspectors in middle TN and I aim to fill that void. My purpose is to give all buyers peace of mind in the home buying process, and to give sellers the leverage they need when negotiating their home sale.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s never a smooth road starting your own business. To top it off, I started two in the same year. I also own and operate a firearms business, Volunteer Armory. Imagine all the stress and financial implications of starting one business and multiply it. It’s been extremely rewarding and I find that I am much more resilient than I was going into the venture.

Residential home inspections, radon testing, sewer scoping, and thermal imaging. I am known for going above and beyond for my clients, providing in depth easy to read reports, and being client focused while also being realtor friendly. I am sympathetic to the fact that what I put on a report can make or break a sale while also putting my client’s best interest first. I pride myself in being honest, reliable. and efficient.
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
I attend 3-5 networking groups every week. Be humble, listen, and be genuine. If you keep consistent and connect with others, they will see your heart and help you in your journey. Finding a mentor is as easy as putting your best foot forward and asking someone who is currently in a position you would like to be in for advice.
