Today we’d like to introduce you to Caroline Swenson.
Hi Caroline, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
To make a long story short, I moved to Nashville to work for a startup called A-Stock, where our community partner was Friends Life Community. Through the work and partnership over time, I came to know—and truly love—the Friends (participants) and the entire FLC community.
I started volunteering at Friends Life in my free time, and then, nearly two years ago, my now-boss reached out with an opportunity to join the team. It honestly felt like a dream come true to work for an organization like Friends Life Community.
The Friends (participants) have created such a welcoming and joyful environment that I feel incredibly lucky to be part of it—and even more grateful to help share their stories.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The path that led me to Friends Life wasn’t always smooth, but I believe each season of my life had a purpose—and ultimately guided me to the dream role I have today.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I serve on the development team at Friends Life Community as the Philanthropy Manager. In this role, I seek out opportunities in the community to share the Friends’ stories and amplify their voices and talents. I also plan our fundraising events and, drawing on my background in marketing, help elevate our social media and other platforms to highlight the incredible work and spirit of the Friends. One of my proudest moments has been finding bold, unexpected ways to showcase the Friends’ talents—like launching the first-ever fashion show at our annual fundraiser to celebrate a Friend with a degree in fashion. I’m always looking for new, imaginative ways to highlight their incredible skills and passions.

There are countless ways for community members to collaborate with Friends Life Community! I’m always seeking new partners to help share our joy and mission—that everyone deserves a place to belong. We strive to bring that spirit to life in every interaction and partnership.
