Today we’d like to introduce you to Chelsea Hodges.
Hi Chelsea, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I would spend summers in Vermont with my Nana at her hair salon. I’ve always been really into hair and make up. Before social media existed I would take my babysitting money and rip out magazine, pages of models and re-create the look on myself with my mom’s makeup she didn’t use. I went to college for about two years and decided to follow in my nanas footsteps and go to cosmetology school.
I moved to Charleston, South Carolina to start my business because the Wedding industry was blowing up there. I got the opportunity to do hair make up for Bravo Southern Charm around season four and did that till season 10 with them and that opened up a lot of opportunities for me.
As much as I love Charleston, I felt like I kind of hit my peak personally and professionally in that city so I decided to move to Nashville, Tennessee to expand into country music artist, and be closer to family three years ago
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I would never say working for yourself is a smooth ride. The freedom is nice, but that comes with ups and downs, financially , continuously, growing your clientele,and staying current. I love what I do but being a freelance Hair and Makeup Artist you do not have a steady paycheck or health insurance like you get with a 9 to 5
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’ve been doing hair and make up for 13 years professionally I would say what sets me apart from other artists that I’ve been told is my calming presence, my versatility with looks and playing with color.

I’m expecting a baby girl with my boyfriend who’s a country artist Dalton Davis this June
