Today we’d like to introduce you to Marc Hollingworth.
Hi Marc, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m a British expat living in Nashville, TN. Why the United States? I have family in Tulsa and have spent many summers in the US and it was instant love for me. My wife and I had made the decision to emigrate in 2023, and we started the journey to figure out how we could make it a reality. I ended up investing in a franchise – something that took 8 months to decide on! I bought Pinks Window Services, and in December of 2024 we made the move. We chose Nashville because while Tulsa has a piece of my heart, Nashville is the perfect blend of country and city, plus my wife has numerous friends here, and after a few years of visiting back and forth, we settled here.
I have taken Pinks Windows East Nashville from a relatively unknown entity, to having many people sharing they have spotted the Pinks’ van out and about. As a company, we try to ingratiate ourselves deeply in the community, and have connected with many non-profits like Wags and Walks, STARS, We Feed the People and more.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I found launching in mid winter to be a challenge, as we were a relatively unknown entity! Once spring warmed things up, our business started warming up too.
During the first year of business, it has been mostly a smooth road, with your normal business issues that pop up.
The most challenging obstacle I have had, is when I was doing a good deed for a friend and got hit by a tree branch! This meant I was running my business from the hospital bed whilst trying to mend multiple broken bones! To date, this is still a challenge, because as of writing this, I have yet to put weight on my ankle, so have been relying on my team and the kindness of friends to help me continue to run the business to its success.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Pink’s Windows is a franchised company, and we cover: East Nashville, Old Hickory, Madison, Donelson, Mt Juliet and Hermitage. We offer: window cleaning (inside and out), screen cleaning, tracks, skylights, gutter cleaning, house washing, and pressure washing.
We set ourselves apart by flipping the script on the blue-collar services industry, and bringing dignity back into the trades. This means, we pride ourselves on a job well done, having attention to detail on another level, showing up on time, and doing what we say we are going to do.
I have found a real pride when in the community I find myself pointing out to whomever I’m with – look at those windows, we took care of that home with great pride! It never ceases to make me smile on seeing how good the places we tend to look afterwards.
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
Best:
I love the local music scene and follow a few Nashville based artists.
The mix of park and city is a lovely balance – the green areas are wonderful to go walking in.
I love the East Nashville community spirit and vibe, the Electric Avenue Parade and Tomato Fest are great!
I’m also really loving the races that the communities can get involved in – my favorite is the Hot Chocolate Run, because who doesn’t love chocolate?
Least:
An obvious one – traffic! However, it does not compare to London traffic, so I suppose its a mild annoyance at worst!
Being on the road all day and visiting clients between the areas that I cover, getting from East Nashville to Hermitage is a real challenge, so having a bridge there would be beneficial to all, not just me!
