Today we’d like to introduce you to Mike Saint Roth.
Hi Mike, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I stepped on a film set at 17 and never put the script in my mind down. By the time most people are figuring out what they want to do, I was already on set in Hollywood — over 70 productions before I was old enough to look back and appreciate what that meant. The biggest productions you could think of and even in front of the camera but as much as I love the spotlight, I much rather do it for you.
I’m originally from New Orleans, and eventually I found home. Not because I had to — because I had something to build here. I started Saint Roth as a creative brand; things like sanctifiveoh4 RayBanSessions- rooted in documentation over performance. I’m not interested in making things look good for the sake of it. I want to capture what’s real. Today Saint Roth operates as a full creative production house — commercial work, music videos, event coverage, content strategy. Solo operation. One man, one vision. I stepped foot in the entertainment industry in 2007 and I’m still learning, still building, still filming. The work is guided by faith and intention. Every project I take on, I’m asking myself what story actually needs to be told here — not just what looks good on a reel. That’s the difference.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Anything but smooth, have you ever driven in New Orleans lol.
Some challenges I’ve faced have mainly been the “click like” atmosphere inside the city I’m from. “High school has never ended” #fbf type of stuff you know what I mean? I get it, but what I’m saying is we need to break down these boundaries and come together as a city and build something. New Orleans has produced not only music music but the best music.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I really think it’s just maybe, I love what I do. They can kind of see it in how I move around; as a rapper as well-I can feel the angles they want when they say certain things. I know what they feel when they say a certain line. It’s fluid. As a business owner I want this emphasized. Almost forgot to mention my epilepsy; that’s a major component to everything-it’s brought on hyper awareness. I’m always working on framing and always ready for the next frame or the frame after. I might even be prepping the editing.
Shoutout to everybody I mess with. I love y’all for real. No freestyle Restyle, we goingglobal. We start Homegrown and we take it from there. We gotta pay the tow-and reaux the reaux for real. No visine-it’s nolazine and some of us too hood to be Hollywood. Regardless, from downtown-to uptown to the underground-it’s lit and the local riffs are screaming that. I hear it from the West Bank, all the way to the northshore.
Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
I love that you asked that question. Definitely The Quran, books like Sulaym ibn Qays al Hilali, podcast; I love Theo Von- he’s a local/a lil Candace O-she’s a rebel. Blogs have to be just my 15-30 minute scroll on Facebook or threads when I’m not working. You have to know your audience.
