Exploring Life & Business with Anna Laboy of You Rest We Clean

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anna Laboy.

Hi Anna, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started my cleaning business when I was 25 during a time in my life where I was really trying to figure things out and build something for myself. I knew I didn’t want to follow a traditional path or work for someone else long-term—I wanted to create something of my own, even if I had to start small.

Honestly, I never imagined I would become an entrepreneur. I’ve always been more on the shy, introverted side, no one in my family was an entrepreneur, and I had zero previous experience running a business. But something in me knew I wanted more, and I was willing to push myself outside of my comfort zone to build it.

Cleaning was something I could get into with very little, so I took that first step and just started. In the beginning, it was a lot of learning as I went—figuring out how to get clients, how to price my services, and how to build a business from the ground up. There were definitely challenges along the way, but those experiences taught me resilience and forced me to grow quickly.

Over time, I realized that what I was building was more than just a cleaning service. I was creating something that genuinely helps people by giving them their time back and allowing them to come home to a space that feels peaceful and taken care of.

Now I run You Rest We Clean here in Nashville, and I’ve been able to grow it into something I’m really proud of. I’ve learned how important it is to have strong systems, clear communication, and boundaries in place, which has completely changed how I operate my business and who I work with.

At 30, I can honestly say the younger version of me would be so proud. What started as something small turned into a business that has completely changed my life.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Oh- definitely not a smooth road..like at all haha!

Like most businesses, there were a lot of challenges, especially in the beginning when I was still figuring everything out with no prior experience.

One of the biggest struggles was learning how to price my services and really understand the value of what I was offering. In the beginning, I underpriced myself and took on clients that weren’t always the best fit, which led to burnout and frustration. At the same time, as I started to grow, finding reliable, quality employees became another major challenge. I quickly realized how important it is to have the right people in place, and that not everyone will be the right fit.

Another challenge was the trial-and-error phase of growing—figuring out how to consistently get clients, manage schedules, and balance everything on my own. There were definitely moments of uncertainty where I questioned if I was doing things the right way.

But those challenges ended up being some of the most valuable lessons. They forced me to grow, become more confident, and run my business in a much more structured and intentional way.

Now, I have systems in place, I’m very intentional about who I bring onto my team, and I’ve built a business that feels much more aligned and manageable. Looking back, I’m grateful for those early struggles because they shaped how I operate today.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
You Rest We Clean is a residential and commercial cleaning service based in Nashville. We specialize in standard, deep, and move-in/move-out cleanings, with a strong focus on quality, consistency, and attention to detail.

What really sets us apart is the level of professionalism and structure we bring to the business. I take a lot of pride in making sure every client knows exactly what to expect and receives a consistent experience every time.

We’re also very intentional about who we bring onto our team. I’ve learned that having the right people in place is everything, so I focus on maintaining a team that takes pride in their work and treats each home with care and respect.

At the core of the business, it’s about more than just cleaning. It’s about giving people their time back and creating a space that feels calm, reset, and taken care of. Whether it’s a busy family, a working professional, or someone preparing for a move, I love being able to provide a service that genuinely makes a difference in their day-to-day life.

Brand-wise, I’m most proud of how much the business has grown and evolved. What started as something small has turned into a structured, professional company with systems in place that allow it to run smoothly and continue growing.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up, I was definitely on the shy and more introverted side. I was very family-oriented and was fortunate to have a really normal, happy childhood, which I’m very grateful for. I’ve lived in Murfreesboro, Tennessee most of my life, so I’ve always felt very rooted in my community.

I was definitely more on the artsy and creative side growing up. I’ve always paid attention to details and liked things to feel put together, clean, and aesthetically pleasing, even in everyday life. Looking back, that’s something that naturally carried over into the work I do now.
