Today we’d like to introduce you to Bella And Emma Burney.
Hi bella and emma, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
The band was created in 2017. It started with just Emma and our oldest sister, Olivia. Three years later Bella joined the band playing bass and singing third part harmonies. After three more years as the trio, our oldest sister left the band and we took a step forward writing and performing our own material as the duo. Since then, we’ve been writing and recording new music and made a move from Missouri to Huntsville Alabama, which has impacted our career in such a great way.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
As young female artists in the music industry we have a lot working against us, like people not taking our dedication to the craft seriously, or people saying music is “not a real career”, but thankfully we have a very strong support system that has helped us navigate those obstacles and continue to encourage us no matter what.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
We are professional touring musicians. We make indie folk music with sibling harmony. We have both been touring since we were 9 years old and we are currently 16 and 18 years old. We’re so proud of the community that we’ve built over the years and the love that continues to surround us in our journey of music.
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
This career is full of risks, and we fully believe in taking them. So many times we’ve taken opportunities we were insanely nervous about, but in the end it’s worth it to put yourself out there and try, because you never know what could change your life.
