Meet Shane McCarrell of Nashville & Surronding Counties

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shane McCarrell.

Hi Shane, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Shane McCarrell is a nationally recognized auction professional, entrepreneur, and educator whose career is defined by resilience, leadership, and a relentless commitment to elevating the auction industry.

A 100% disabled United States military veteran, Shane served over a decade in both the United States Marine Corps and the United States Army. His transition to civilian life was marked by significant personal challenges, including overcoming the effects of PTSD and traumatic brain injury. Through that journey, he found that the auction industry did more than provide a career—it gave him purpose. It renewed his service-driven talents and ultimately helped save his life, allowing him to continue leading, serving, and making an impact in a new arena.

Today, Shane is the Co-Founder and Principal Auctioneer of Accelerated Real Estate Solutions, where he leads the strategic vision and execution of modern real estate auctions. His work is centered on delivering true price discovery, certainty, and transparency for clients through disciplined processes and data-driven marketing strategies. He is widely recognized for challenging outdated industry norms and positioning auctioneers as strategic advisors rather than transactional facilitators.

Prior to launching his current venture, Shane served as Director of Auction Operations at Blackwell Realty & Auction, where he led high-performing teams and helped scale auction operations into a dominant force within the Tennessee real estate market.

In 2024, Shane earned the title of International Auctioneer Champion, one of the highest honors in the profession, recognizing both his technical excellence and his ability to connect, lead, and perform at the highest level on a global stage.

Beyond the auction platform, Shane is deeply committed to education and the advancement of the profession. As Co-Owner and Education Director of Nashville Auction School, he has authored more than 40 state-approved courses and mentors the next generation of auction professionals. His teachings emphasize leadership, strategic thinking, and the evolution of auctioneering into a data-driven, advisory-focused profession.

In addition to his operational and educational roles, Shane has become a sought-after speaker at auction conventions, state and national associations, and auction companies across the country. His presentations challenge audiences to think differently—moving beyond tradition and toward a more strategic, professional, and modern approach to the business.

A past President of the Tennessee Auctioneers Association and an active leader within the National Auctioneers Association, Shane continues to shape the future of the industry through advocacy, innovation, and education.

At his core, Shane McCarrell represents the intersection of grit and growth—a leader who transformed personal adversity into professional excellence, and who now uses his platform to help others find purpose, clarity, and confidence in moments that matter most

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No—it hasn’t been a smooth road, and I think that’s an important part of my story.

My transition out of the military was one of the most challenging periods of my life. I was navigating PTSD and a traumatic brain injury while trying to find direction and identity outside of service. There were moments where the path forward wasn’t clear, and I had to rebuild—mentally, emotionally, and professionally.

Even once I found the auction industry, success didn’t come overnight. Like many in this business, I had to earn credibility in a profession rooted in tradition. I had to prove that I wasn’t just a bid caller, but someone who could bring strategy, leadership, and a modern approach to the table. There were setbacks, deals that didn’t go as planned, and moments where I had to make difficult decisions—personally and professionally.

On top of that, building and evolving businesses, leading teams, and navigating a highly competitive industry comes with constant pressure. You’re responsible for outcomes that directly impact people’s lives and finances, and that weight is real.

But those struggles are also what shaped me. The discipline and resilience I developed in the military, combined with the challenges I faced afterward, forced me to grow into a better leader and a more intentional professional. They pushed me to rely on data over emotion, to communicate more clearly, and to stay grounded in purpose.

Looking back, it wasn’t a smooth road—but it was a meaningful one. And every challenge along the way reinforced why I do what I do today

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
At a high level, I specialize in the strategic sale of real estate and assets through the auction platform, but I approach it very differently than the traditional perception of auctioneering. I’m not just there to call bids—I position myself as a strategic advisor to my clients. My role is to design and execute a process that creates competition, delivers true price discovery, and gives both buyers and sellers certainty.

As Co-Founder and Principal Auctioneer of Accelerated Real Estate Solutions, I focus heavily on high-impact marketing, data-driven decision making, and structured auction timelines that force action in the marketplace. We’re very intentional about how we position assets, how we target buyers nationally, and how we create an environment where the market—not opinions—determines value.

What I’m probably best known for is challenging the status quo in our industry. I’ve spent a lot of time pushing back on the idea that auctioneers are simply entertainers or fast talkers. I believe we are professionals who should operate with the same level of strategy, analytics, and accountability as any top-tier advisor in real estate or finance. That message has resonated, especially through my teaching and speaking.

I’m also known for education. Through Nashville Auction School, I’ve authored over 40 state-approved courses and had the opportunity to help develop auctioneers across the country. My focus there is helping people shift from tradition-based thinking to data-driven execution—what I often refer to as “facts, not feelings.”

As far as what I’m most proud of, there are a few things. Professionally, winning the International Auctioneer Championship in 2024 was a milestone—it validated years of work and dedication to the craft. But more importantly, I’m proud of the impact I’ve had on people—clients who achieved outcomes they didn’t think were possible, and students who have gone on to build meaningful careers.

On a personal level, I’m proud of the journey itself. Coming out of the military as a 100% disabled veteran, facing PTSD and a traumatic brain injury, there were real challenges in finding direction. The auction industry gave me purpose—it allowed me to take the leadership and service mindset I developed in the military and apply it in a way that still helps people every day.

What sets me apart is the combination of that background, my commitment to discipline and process, and my willingness to evolve. I don’t rely on how things have always been done. I rely on data, preparation, and execution. I bring a level of structure and intentionality to every auction that’s designed to remove uncertainty and maximize outcomes.

At the end of the day, I don’t see myself as just selling assets—I see myself as helping people navigate important moments with clarity, confidence, and a system that works.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
A lot of people know me from the stage, the competition side of the industry, or from teaching—and that version of me is very high energy, very structured, and very focused. What most people don’t see is how much of my journey was built in some pretty quiet, difficult seasons.

Something that often surprises people is that I’m a 100% disabled veteran who had to work through PTSD and a traumatic brain injury after my time in the military. There was a period where I had to completely rebuild—my routine, my mindset, and my sense of purpose. The version of me people see today wasn’t always there; it was developed through a lot of intentional work behind the scenes.

Another thing that really catches people off guard is that I didn’t grow up in this industry at all. I had never even attended an auction and knew nothing about the business until I was 30 years old—which was only about 15 years ago. Everything I’ve built in this space has been learned, developed, and earned over time, which is a big part of why I approach it with such intention and discipline.

I also think people are surprised to learn that while I’m known for performance on stage, I actually spend far more time in strategy than I do in the spotlight. I’m deeply focused on data, process, and preparation—how to position assets, how to build marketing campaigns, and how to create competitive environments. The performance is really just the final piece.

And lastly, something that matters a lot to me that people don’t always see is how invested I am in developing others. Through Nashville Auction School and speaking across the country, I’m very intentional about helping people raise their standard and see what’s possible in this industry. A lot of that comes from my own journey—I know what it’s like to be starting from zero and searching for direction.

So while people may see the energy and the results, what’s underneath it is a lot of discipline, growth through adversity, and a deep sense of purpose behind everything I do.
