Community Highlights: Meet Melanie Wiley of Beauty Haus Collective

Today we’d like to introduce you to Melanie Wiley.

Hi Melanie, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve been a licensed aesthetician for over a decade. My business, BeautyHaus Co., opened in June of 2022 — born out of a pivotal moment when I experienced sexual trauma with a male client at the salon where I’d worked for years. That experience clarified something for me: it was time to go out on my own, on my own terms.

I started primarily as a body waxing specialist, but my path had quietly been shifting. During COVID, I began receiving energy work virtually, and my practitioner kept reflecting something back to me — that I wasn’t just a waxer, that I was meant to be a healer. Looking back, I can see why. My waxing clients would often tell me my sessions were remarkably painless compared to others they’d experienced. Something was already moving through my hands.

In 2023, I joined a coaching program designed to help salon professionals elevate their client experience through energy work. That became the turning point. I pursued certifications, worked with mentors, and eventually shifted my entire business focus toward energy healing.

Today I work with women navigating stress and anxiety — and I chose this work because I lived it. I was once labeled with CPTSD, and my anxiety was profound. Through years of therapy, energy work, and somatic practices, I’ve healed in ways I once couldn’t imagine. That label no longer defines me. I’m in my body. I’m present. And I get to help other women find their way there too.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Owning a business is not for the faint of heart. After surviving my first year, I realized that building a business is a lot like pregnancy — you create something, bring it into the world, and then pour yourself into raising it. I was afraid to even take a vacation. What if my clients moved on while I was gone? Working through that fear and that mindset was its own journey.

There’s also so much that happens behind the scenes that people don’t see. My work already requires deep presence — holding space for clients, offering intimate and personal services — and then layered on top of that is everything it takes to actually run a business. For a long time, it felt like I was always working, even on my days off. Learning to create healthy boundaries with myself, my business, and my clients has been one of my greatest accomplishments. I’m not accessible 24/7, and I’m genuinely proud of that.

I’ve also had to navigate the lasting impact of the sexual trauma I experienced with a male client at my previous salon. The effects didn’t stop at male clients — for a time, taking on any new client felt activating. It took real, intentional work to help my nervous system feel safe again. Today, I no longer accept new male clients, and I use my booking system to approve new clients and learn how they were referred before we ever meet. That layer of control has been everything for my sense of safety. I’m very selective — and completely unapologetic about it.

As you know, we’re big fans of Beauty Haus Collective. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
My business is BeautyHaus Co., a private energy healing practice rooted in one core belief: that women deserve to feel at home in themselves.

I work exclusively with high-achieving women who are navigating overwhelm, anxiety, or a quiet but persistent sense of disconnection — from their bodies, their emotions, and themselves. Through private 1:1 energy healing sessions, I create a space that is grounded, intuitive, and deeply personal, where each client is met exactly where she is.

What BeautyHaus Co. is known for is the quality of presence and safety woven into every session. I approach each one with care, consent, and curiosity, allowing your body and energy to lead. The work creates room for release, reflection, and reconnection — at a pace that feels genuinely supportive.

What sets BeautyHaus Co. apart is a willingness to go deeper. The healing space can sometimes default to surface-level positivity, but real transformation often requires sitting with the harder questions and doing the shadow work most people prefer to avoid. I’m not afraid of that. My own ongoing inner work is the foundation of everything I offer, and I bring that same depth and integrity to every client relationship.

Education is also central to how I operate. Most recently, I became certified in trauma-aware breathwork and meditation. Understanding trauma — and knowing the appropriate scope of support to offer clients — isn’t optional in this work. It’s foundational.

At its heart, BeautyHaus Co. exists to remind women of something they may have forgotten: healing isn’t about fixing yourself. It’s about remembering who you’ve always been, beneath the noise.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
I would prefer not to share about my childhood.
