Hi, I’m Javaneh!
Born to Persian parents in the UAE oasis, surrounded by desert dunes and date-bearing palm trees, my world was enriched by a tapestry of vibrant cultures and their unique cuisines. It was in this environment that my passion for food and my love for people intertwined and Hummus Chick came to life.In 1998, I moved to Middle Tennessee as an international student, and to my delight was welcomed with open arms. Although I eventually planted roots in Nashville, I still found myself longing for the diverse cultures, rich flavors, and authentic cuisine of my youth. That’s when I discovered my love for cooking, which allowed me to recreate and share the culinary delights of my upbringing. This passion for food inspired me to bring people together and foster a sense of community through curated culinary experiences.During a surfing excursion to California, I had one of those rare, transformative moments that are often spoken of but seldom experienced. As I sat atop my surfboard, scanning the horizon for the next great wave, when I had an epiphany. I realized that sharing meals with others is about more than feeding our physical beings but rather nourishing our souls, building communities and creating bonds rooted in peace, creativity, and long-lasting connections.
Upon my return to Nashville, that simple seed of an idea organically sprouted into Hummus Chick. Since then, I have been living my dream – growing and evolving the brand by introducing new Mediterranean recipes that perfectly blend vibrant cuisine and inviting culture and sharing that with you!My food philosophy is simple and sacred: it should be inspired by nature and influenced by the culture around us. I create food and experiences that are centered around plants, colors, little flourishes of happiness, and a dash of the unexpected. This is the foundation of all Hummus Chick hummus, spice blends, and tahini dressings.
We take loads of plants and simply prepare them in ways inspired by Mediterranean culture. My recipes are gifts of gratitude guided by community, forged friendships, and captivating stories we share. So come, and nourish your soul!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It hasn’t been a smooth journey and I don’t think the most meaningful ones ever are. Building a food business comes with constant learning curves, from managing rising costs and navigating distribution, to balancing growth with maintaining quality and values. There have also been moments that required deep resilience, times when things didn’t go as planned, and I had to pause, recalibrate, and trust the process.
What’s carried me through is staying connected to the ‘why’. Creating food that brings people together and nourishes more than just the body. Each challenge has shaped how we operate today: more intentional, more efficient, and more grounded in our mission. It’s a journey of evolution, and I’ve learned to embrace both the beauty and the complexity of building something meaningful.

Hummus Chick is a Mediterranean food brand rooted in connection, heritage, and nourishment. Our recipes are inspired by a 3,000-year-old tradition and crafted by second and third generation hummus artisans, which is why you taste a distinct smoothness, depth, and authenticity in every bite. We specialize in clean, thoughtfully made hummus and plant-based products that bring both flavor and intention to the table.
What sets us apart is not just the quality of our ingredients, but the philosophy behind them. We believe food is a way to connect with ourselves, with others, and with culture. Our products are designed to be both everyday staples and creative canvases, whether you’re building a nourishing bowl, entertaining, or simply enjoying a moment of stillness.
As we grow, we’re expanding beyond hummus into a broader Mediterranean lifestyle offering including tahini sauces and pita chips so that we can support the full experience of how people gather, eat, and nourish themselves.
What I’m most proud of is that we’ve built a brand that feels both modern and deeply rooted. We’ve stayed true to our values, clean ingredients, cultural integrity, and community while scaling into new markets. At the end of the day, I want people to know that Hummus Chick is more than a product, it’s an invitation to slow down, connect, and truly nourish your soul.”
What do you like and dislike about the city?
It’s the people. There’s a kindness and creativity here that feels very real and you can feel it in conversations, collaborations, and the way people show up for one another. It’s been a beautiful place to grow both personally and professionally.
On the flip side, like many growing cities, it can feel a bit stretched at times whether it’s traffic or navigating the pace of change. But overall, the spirit of the community far outweighs any challenges.
