Today we’d like to introduce you to Byrdie Wilson.
Hi Byrdie, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Byrdie Wilson is a rising country artist known for pairing raw storytelling with modern Nashville energy. Raised in South Carolina, she moved to Nashville at 19 to pursue music full‑time and has since worked with Rob Arthur of The Peter Frampton Band as well as award‑winning songwriter Trey Bruce.
She has earned national recognition as a finalist on America’s Top Hitmakers, winner of Monster Energy’s Rising Star competition, and The Tennessean’s Best Artist of Music City. She has opened for Ty Herndon and Montgomery Gentry and performed at festivals across the Southeast.
Wilson’s new single Savin’ drops May 22 and is already gaining momentum, with an early TikTok preview surpassing 200,000 views.
She also serves as a Youth Ambassador for Operation Smile and advocates for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, championing hope and resilience for young people.
Authentic, driven, and electric onstage, Byrdie Wilson is quickly becoming a standout force in today’s country music landscape.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I was born with a cleft palate, so my story started with surgeries, speech therapy, and learning early how to turn something hard into something that made me stronger. My family life wasn’t simple either—my parents divorced when I was young, and my dad struggled with addiction after surviving the trauma of 9/11 while working on Wall Street. In high school, I faced a loss that changed me forever when my first love died by suicide. Those experiences shaped the way I see the world and the way I write. They taught me empathy, resilience, and the importance of telling the truth in my music.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a country artist and songwriter based in Nashville, and my work is all about authenticity and truth—whether it’s joyful, messy, hopeful, or hard. I specialize in blending classic country storytelling with a modern edge, and I’ve been told that my voice carries a lot of emotion and my songs come straight from lived experience.
I’m proud of the momentum I’ve built so far—opening for artists I grew up listening to, earning recognition from competitions and press, and building a fan base that feels like family. I’m also proud that I get to do this with my mom, who is my manager and my boyfriend, Jesse who is also my drummer.
But what means the most to me is using my platform for something bigger than myself, especially through my advocacy with Operation Smile and mental health organizations like AFSP.
What sets me apart is that nothing about my story has been easy, and I don’t hide that. I write from the scars, not just the pretty parts, and I think people can feel that honesty in the music. I truly believe I’d never be where I am if I didn’t have the life experiences that I had. In fact, I’m grateful for them.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
I wouldn’t be where I am without my mom, Pam. She’s been my manager, my anchor, my biggest believer, and the one who kept pushing this dream forward even on the days I couldn’t see the road. We’ve built every step of this together – the shows, the long drives, the hard lessons, the wins that felt impossible until they weren’t. People see me on stage, but what they don’t see is the woman behind the scenes who protects my heart, keeps the wheels turning, and makes sure I never forget who I am. We’re a team in every sense of the word.
And I’ve got to give a huge shoutout to my boyfriend, Jesse Hyatt too. He’s the steady energy in the chaos, the one who shows up, lifts us up, and keeps the whole operation grounded. Having him in our corner makes the work lighter and the journey sweeter.
I’m lucky not just to do what I love, but to do it with the people who love me right back.
