Conversations with KoldHeartKrow

Today we’d like to introduce you to KoldHeartKrow.

Hi KoldHeartKrow, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’m KoldHeartKrow, an independent blues artist from Richmond, California and the creator of a sound I call “Ghetto Blues” — a blend of raw blues emotion, real-life storytelling, and modern pain, struggle, and redemption. Growing up in Richmond shaped my perspective heavily. Music became more than entertainment for me; it became survival, therapy, and purpose.

Being the son of multi-platinum producer/songwriter Sam Bostic exposed me to music early, but I’ve been focused on building my own identity and creating something authentic to my story and generation. My influences range from traditional blues legends like Robert Johnson, Son House, and Muddy Waters to the realities and emotions of modern street culture and everyday life.

I started creating music seriously because I wanted people to feel something real again. My music reflects struggle, growth, betrayal, faith, pain, and perseverance. Over time, I’ve built a growing independent audience and strong momentum online through consistency, visual storytelling, and staying true to my sound and message.

Today, I’m continuing to build my brand, Sinners Club Collective, while pushing forward as one of the new voices bringing blues-inspired storytelling into a new era.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. I grew up in an environment where drugs, violence, and family struggles were a part of everyday life. My mother raised six kids on her own — three boys and three girls — so there were a lot of responsibilities and hardships at an early age. Growing up like that forced me to mature quickly and focus more on survival than chasing dreams.

I was also shot twice in my life, once at 18 and again at 22, which changed my perspective on life completely. For a long time, I stayed focused on sports and staying busy because it helped keep me away from trouble and gave me structure. Music was always around me, but I didn’t truly have the time or mindset to fully focus on being an artist while dealing with everything happening around me.

A lot of my challenges became the inspiration behind my music. Instead of letting those experiences break me, I started using them to tell real stories, connect with people, and create something meaningful through my sound and message.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m an independent blues artist and creative from Richmond, California, known for creating a new genre and sound I call “Ghetto Blues.” My music blends the emotional depth and storytelling of traditional blues with modern-day experiences, pain, struggle, survival, and redemption. Through my music and visuals, I focus on creating something raw, honest, and emotionally real.

What I specialize in most is vulnerability within my art. I’m proud of being able to express real emotions and real-life experiences without hiding behind an image or persona. I want people to understand that it’s okay to be themselves and that art should come from truth, not perfection. A lot of my music reflects personal struggles, growth, trauma, faith, and perseverance, which allows listeners to connect to it on a deeper level.

What sets me apart from others is that I’m not trying to follow trends or fit into a specific box. I’m focused on building my own lane and bringing a new voice and perspective to blues-inspired music through the sound and movement of Ghetto Blues.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
Some of the books and resources that have impacted me the most are The Secret, Think and Grow Rich, The Power of Now, and The Four Agreements. I’m also heavily inspired by the work and teachings of Napoleon Hill in general, especially when it comes to mindset, discipline, purpose, and perseverance.

Outside of books, I listen to meditative frequencies and calming audio regularly. They help me stay mentally grounded, focused, creative, and connected to myself while balancing life, music, and personal growth.
