Daily Inspiration: Meet Miggie Snyder

Today we’d like to introduce you to Miggie Snyder.

Hi Miggie, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I grew up involved in music, between piano lessons, voice lessons, dance classes, showchoir and local theatre. I always loved performing and would organically write my own songs, eventually writing them down in a purple notebook I would carry around through middle school and high school. I knew I wanted to perform as a career, but I never thought being a musical artist and songwriter would pan out, mostly because many of my peers made fun of my original songs in my teen years. I assumed writing would be more of a hobby, and not a life pursuit. I did visit Nashville during my college school tours and fell in love with the city. I vowed to move there eventually. I went to college for musical theatre and got a BFA from Western Michigan University. At that point, my writing had fallen to the wayside, but I vividly remember playing one of my originals as at local showcase. I had a classmate come up and ask me to write out the sheet music for the song because she loved it and wanted to sing it. That comment relit a spark in me. I started writing more frequently, while also performing professional post graduation. In 2020, the Covid pandemic hit and I ended up in my parents basement without a job for the forseeable future. I turned to TikTok to share my music online. Within months of sharing, my song “Legend Lake” went viral and gained over 100,000 views. People started posting their own videos with the song and to this day, it is the most well known song in my catalogue. I remember the day it went viral, I realized I could actually pursue a dream that I always wanted. It’s like all the puzzle pieces fell into place, I started going down to Nashville to record more music and work in person with my mentor and coach, Craig Wilson. I saved up to be able to move south, which was a big leap being so far away from family and in a brand new city. In the past six years since I moved down, I have grown and learned more than ever before. I am surrounded by some of the most creative and talented individuals, and they push me to be better, to be the best and most authentic version of myself. I have released a debut album in 2024, and a sophomore album in May of 2026. I have begun cowriting, I have toured the country, and I am living the dream.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has definitely not been smooth. In 2023, I lost both my voice teacher, Dr. Jennifer Barnickel-Fitch and my mentor, Craig Wilson, within three months of eachother very unexpectedly. They both guided me on my journey and career for over 10 years and losing them both in such a short period of time was very difficult to process. In many ways, I am still processing it and I continue to carry that grief with me as I have moved forward. I have also had to deal with the many struggles of an independent artist. I am entirely self funded for all my projects, all my marketing, all my merch giveaways, and all my touring. I act as my own manager and booking agent for all my shows. I am a true one woman show and I didn’t have any prior connections coming into the music industry. I have built my network through the kindness of other creatives in the industry and in Nashville, and I am eternally grateful for all the guidance and support I have from my family, friends and peers.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
As a musical artist, I am best known for my music. I feel my music stands apart from other music as it is a true blend of theater and pop in one sound. I bring my background in drama and storytelling from theater and combine it with pop hooks and production. My best known songs are Legend Lake, music man, and How To Write A Love Song. I am most proud of all of my work and my career as a whole. I am proud that I have been a producer, writer and musician on every song I have ever released. I am proud that I have continued to preserve and pave my own path.

Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
People can best support me by listening to my music, following me on social media and sharing my work with others. Word of mouth is incredibly valuable these days and artist who are independent rely heavily on their music traveling through recommendations from others.
