Life & Work with Chanel Peek of Nashville

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chanel Peek.

Hi Chanel, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hi, I’m Chanel Peek a mom of two little ones, ages 2 and 4, and the founder of Moms of Nashville!

After struggling with postpartum depression following both of my pregnancies, I realized just how many women were probably feeling the same loneliness and isolation while craving genuine connection with other moms who truly understood what they were going through. Motherhood can be beautiful, but it can also feel incredibly heavy at times, especially when you feel alone in it.

My family and I recently relocated from San Diego to Nashville after my husband was given the opportunity to transfer for work. We instantly fell in love with Nashville and decided to make it home after selling our house in California. But leaving behind our family, friends, and support system was harder than I expected.

About a month into living here, I was sitting alone in our Airbnb one evening feeling isolated and disconnected, and that’s when the idea for Moms of Nashville came to me. I wanted to create more than just a mom group… I wanted to build a community where moms could feel seen, heard, supported, and honestly spoiled a little too, because moms deserve that.

What started with just 20 moms quickly grew into a community of over 2,700 moms in only seven months. We’ve also created more than 10 local group chats throughout Nashville, making it easier for moms to connect with women in their own communities through real conversations, recommendations, support, and friendship.

I’m beyond thankful for every woman who continues to support and grow this community, because at the end of the day, moms need moms <3

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Starting Moms of Nashville wasn’t easy, and honestly, I almost gave up during the first month. I started planning small meetups hoping moms would come and connect, but at my first five events, hardly anyone showed up. I remember questioning whether this was something I should continue pouring my time and energy into.

As a stay-at-home mom, it would’ve been easy to walk away from it, but something kept telling me not to. Creating this community gave me an outlet for my creativity, my love for event planning, and my passion for marketing. More importantly, I knew there had to be other moms feeling the same loneliness and isolation I had experienced.

So instead of giving up, I kept showing up.. even when it felt discouraging. Slowly but surely, moms started finding the community, connecting with one another, and inviting other women in. Watching something that started from such a vulnerable season of my life grow into a safe and supportive space for thousands of women has been one of the most rewarding experiences.

Looking back now, I’m so thankful I didn’t quit during those early moments of doubt, because this community became proof that moms truly do need moms.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
A little about me! Before moving from San Diego to Nashville, I was working a full-time salaried position managing a gymnastics facility and leading a staff of 30 employees. Honestly, it felt like a dream job in so many ways. I grew up doing gymnastics, so being able to combine something I loved with working around children and building relationships with families was incredibly fulfilling. It gave me the opportunity to grow professionally while still being in a fun, energetic, and active environment.

Before that, I worked in promotional marketing for several casinos in the San Diego area, which really helped shape my love for branding, event planning, and bringing people together. During COVID, I decided to take a leap and start my own event company focused on luxury picnics, full-service wedding planning, and corporate events. Creating experiences and meaningful moments for people has always been something I’ve genuinely loved.

Community-building has also always been close to my heart. Before moving to Tennessee, I created a smaller local mom community page called Moms of Alpine for the town I lived in back in California — and it’s still active and being used today. That experience played a huge role in inspiring what would eventually become Moms of Nashville. The name itself was born from wanting to recreate that same sense of connection, support, and community for moms here in Nashville.

What matters most to you? Why?
What matters most to me is creating a safe space where moms in every stage of motherhood can feel loved, heard, and truly seen. Becoming a mom is beautiful, but it can also be incredibly hard to reconnect with yourself again when so much of your time, energy, and heart is poured into your children. I think so many moms lose pieces of themselves along the way while trying to be everything for everyone else.

That’s why with Moms of Nashville, I’ve always wanted our meetups and events to be about more than just the kids. Of course we love creating fun experiences for our little ones, but we also intentionally focus on the moms too.. giving women the opportunity to build friendships, feel supported, laugh, have conversations, and reconnect with themselves outside of motherhood.

I truly believe every mom deserves community, encouragement, and moments where she feels cared for too. My goal has always been to create a space where women can show up exactly as they are , whether they’re thriving, struggling, navigating postpartum, new to the area, or simply looking for connection. I want them to know they’re not alone.
