Today we’d like to introduce you to Jordan Johansen.
Hi Jordan , so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
In 2015, I launched Notable Nashville with a vision of spotlighting local music and uncovering the stories behind the songs alongside my friend Gary Branigan, who at the time worked with me selling cell phones at a local Sprint store. What started as full bands performing in the Green Hills house I was renting quickly evolved into something much bigger. After moving in 2016, I transformed the spare room in my condo into the official Notable Nashville studio, welcoming artists and guests for in-person interviews until the pandemic shifted the show into a virtual format. In 2022, Notable Nashville found a new home when the team at Acme Radio Live who picked up the show as a weekly series airing every Thursday at 7 p.m., continuing its mission of championing emerging artists and authentic storytelling.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Like many creative ventures, the journey came with both highs and lows. The pandemic brought major challenges, and there were moments where I personally struggled with self-doubt, questioning whether people truly connected with or enjoyed the content I was creating. Still, those experiences ultimately strengthened my passion for storytelling and supporting artists.
As you know, we’re big fans of Notable Nashville . For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Notable Nashville gives listeners an inside glimpse into the creative process of each featured artist, exploring the stories, inspirations, and personal experiences behind their music through authentic conversations and performances.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
Ever since moving to Nashville in 2008 to attend Belmont University, I’ve loved being part of a city so deeply rooted in music and creativity. The music scene here is incredibly expansive and constantly evolving — so much so that it often feels impossible to fully scratch the surface of everything Nashville has to offer.
