Today we’d like to introduce you to Laura Koster.
Hi Laura, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always loved travel and the way it brings people together, but becoming a travel advisor really started from wanting to help people create meaningful memories without the stress and overwhelm that can come with planning. What began as a passion quickly turned into a business that I truly love.
Over the years, I’ve built my business by focusing on relationships, personalization, and really listening to what my clients want from their vacations. I never wanted to just “book trips.” I wanted to help families reconnect, help couples celebrate milestones, help groups make memories together, and help people feel excited about traveling again.
Today, I’m proud to be an Elite Agent ranked among the top producers within my agency, specializing in Caribbean vacations, all-inclusive resorts, cruises, family travel, and group travel. Jamaica has become one of my favorite destinations to plan because there’s such an incredible mix of culture, relaxation, luxury, and fun.
I’m also a Certified Autism Travel Professional, which is something very important to me because I believe travel should feel accessible, enjoyable, and comfortable for every family. Being able to guide clients through vacations with more understanding and personalized support has been incredibly rewarding.
What has helped me grow the most is building genuine trust with my clients. Many of them return year after year and refer their friends and families, which means the world to me because this business is so relationship-driven. It’s amazing to look back and realize how many anniversaries, birthdays, honeymoons, graduations, reunions, and once-in-a-lifetime moments I’ve been trusted to help plan.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t always been a smooth road. Like many entrepreneurs, there were moments of self-doubt in the beginning while trying to grow my business, establish myself in the industry, and build a loyal client base from the ground up.
Since I started my business in 2021, I entered the travel industry during a time when travel was still recovering and constantly changing. Policies, requirements, and traveler concerns were evolving quickly, so I had to learn how to adapt fast while also building trust with clients navigating a lot of uncertainty around travel.
One of the biggest challenges has been balancing all the behind-the-scenes responsibilities that come with being a business owner. People often see the fun side of travel, but there’s also a lot of work involved in research, problem-solving, coordinating details, staying current on industry changes, and being available for clients when unexpected situations arise.
Another challenge has been balancing entrepreneurship with family life and everything else life throws at you. Running your own business requires a lot of time, consistency, and dedication, especially in an industry where clients are often planning some of the most important trips and celebrations of their lives.
At the same time, those challenges helped me grow tremendously. They taught me how to communicate clearly, stay calm under pressure, and truly advocate for my clients. I think those experiences have shaped both my business and the level of care I provide today.
As you know, we’re big fans of Magical Memories with Laura Koster. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
My business focuses on creating personalized vacation experiences that help clients truly enjoy the FUN and connection that travel brings. I specialize in Caribbean vacations, all-inclusive resorts, cruises, family vacations, and group travel experiences.
A large part of what sets me apart is the level of personalization and support I provide throughout the entire process. I really take the time to understand what matters most to my clients instead of offering one-size-fits-all recommendations. Some clients want luxury and relaxation, others want adventure and nightlife, while others are traveling to celebrate something meaningful like a wedding, graduation, birthday, or family reunion.
I’m especially known for helping clients navigate the details that can often feel overwhelming, whether that’s coordinating group travel, finding the right resort fit, or helping families with unique travel needs feel more confident and prepared.
As a Certified Autism Travel Professional, creating supportive and personalized experiences for neurodiverse travelers and families is something I’m very proud of as well.
Brand-wise, I’m most proud of the relationships and trust I’ve built with my clients. Many of my bookings come from repeat clients and referrals, which means more to me than any sales number ever could. I want people to know that when they work with me, they’re not just getting someone to make reservations. They’re getting someone who genuinely cares about their experience from start to finish and wants them to feel excited, supported, and taken care of throughout the entire journey.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
I would say authenticity and genuinely caring about people have been the biggest factors in my success.
I truly love helping people create memories and experiences they’ll never forget, and I think clients can feel when someone genuinely cares versus when they’re simply trying to make a sale. I always try to treat my clients’ vacations with the same level of care and attention I would want for my own family.
I also think consistency, communication, and adaptability are incredibly important in this industry because travel is always evolving. Being able to stay calm, solution-oriented, and supportive no matter what comes up has helped me build strong relationships and trust with my clients over time.
At the end of the day, I never want my clients to feel like just another booking number. I want them to feel understood, valued, and excited about the memories they’re about to create.
