Today we’d like to introduce you to Nayomi Boelter.
Hi Nayomi, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My journey into modeling didn’t happen overnight, and honestly, it wasn’t a straight path. A lot of what shaped me came long before I ever stepped onto a runway.
Growing up, I was always close to opportunities, but never fully at the center of them. In sixth grade, I didn’t make the dance team, and I remember crying while my dad came straight from work in his officer uniform just to hug me and remind me I was still enough. Then in seventh grade, I didn’t make the track team at first, but I forced my way in because I refused to give up on myself. Those moments stayed with me. I made teams, got leadership roles, and received praise, but there was always something in me that wanted more. I didn’t just want to participate, I wanted to become great.
Modeling found me naturally. My dad introduced me to weightlifting early, so fitness and discipline became part of my lifestyle. My mom took me to a casting call when I was younger, and even though I left discouraged, she later booked me my first photoshoot for my 16th birthday. The moment I got in front of the camera, something clicked. What started as a hobby slowly became a calling.
As I got deeper into the industry, I experienced a lot of challenges behind the scenes. There were moments where I felt overlooked, underestimated, and unseen despite how hard I was working. I learned very quickly that this industry can test your confidence, your patience, and your sense of worth if you let it. But instead of letting those experiences discourage me, they pushed me to grow stronger, wiser, and more secure in who I am.
I learned how to stay calm under pressure. I learned how to advocate for myself and say no. I learned that confidence isn’t built from constant validation, it’s built from surviving moments where no one claps for you and continuing anyway. My faith became the foundation that kept me grounded during every closed door and every season of doubt.
There were nights where I prayed over this dream with tears in my eyes, asking God if I was truly meant for it. I’ve pushed myself so hard before that I became physically sick from stress and exhaustion trying to create content, work, travel, and prove myself. That season taught me something important: you cannot force what God is timing. Rest became part of my discipline too.
What keeps me driven is knowing I was never created to blend in. I’ve always stood out from my look, to my tattoos, to my walk, to the energy I bring into a room. I realized the things people once criticized about me are the exact things that make me memorable. I stopped trying to fit the mold and started embracing what made me different.
Since fully stepping into modeling, I’ve had incredible opportunities that reminded me I’m on the right path. I’ve modeled at Gotham Hall in New York, walked in Art Hearts Fashion, worked with talented designers, been photographed by Getty Images, and even went viral on TikTok multiple times. One of my favorite moments was meeting Sharaun Brown from America’s Next Top Model because it reminded me how far I’ve already come. I’ve now walked in 28 fashion shows, and every single one has taught me something.
At the core of everything I do is purpose. I don’t want success just for recognition, I want my story to help other people, especially upcoming models who feel unseen or discouraged. I want people to know that being overlooked does not mean you are untalented. Delays are not denial. Sometimes the seasons where nobody notices you are the exact seasons building the strength you’ll need later.
Today, I’m continuing to build a career that’s bigger than I once imagined. I’m traveling, creating viral modeling content, and continuing to evolve both personally and professionally. I still have big goals ahead of me, but I’m learning not to rush the process anymore. I truly believe God placed this dream in me for a reason, and every setback, sacrifice, and unanswered message was preparing me to walk into rooms with confidence, grace, wisdom, and purpose.
This is only the beginning.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely has not been a smooth road, but I think that’s what shaped me into the person and model I am today. A lot of people only see the glamorous side of modeling, but there are so many challenges that happen behind the scenes that people don’t talk about enough.
One of the biggest struggles was learning not to let rejection and feeling overlooked define my confidence. There were moments where I questioned myself because I would work extremely hard and still feel unseen or underestimated. I had to learn how to stay secure in who I am without constantly needing outside validation.
Another challenge was comparison. In an industry where you constantly see other people succeeding, getting opportunities, or growing online, it can be easy to feel pressure to rush your own journey. I had to remind myself that everyone’s path and timing is different. Some delays were actually protection and preparation for something better.
I also struggled with overworking myself. At one point, I became so focused on building my career, creating content, traveling, and trying to stay productive that I physically got sick from stress and exhaustion. That season taught me the importance of rest, balance, and trusting God instead of trying to force everything to happen on my own timing.
There were personal sacrifices too. I’ve invested a lot of time, energy, money, and discipline into this career. From traveling, rebranding myself, improving my skills, and constantly pushing myself creatively, there’s been a lot of work behind the scenes that people don’t always see.
But through every challenge, I’ve grown stronger mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. The struggles taught me resilience, patience, confidence, and faith. Looking back now, I’m grateful for the difficult seasons because they helped prepare me for the opportunities I have today and the ones still ahead of me.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a full-time fashion model and content creator, and I specialize in runway, editorial, and creative fashion modeling. I love bringing a designer’s vision to life while also creating content that gives people a real look into the modeling world. A big part of my brand is combining fashion with storytelling, confidence, and authenticity.
I’m especially known for my strong runway walk, unique look, bold presence, and the energy I bring into a room. I’ve always believed that modeling is more than just wearing clothes, it’s about creating emotion, confidence, and art through movement and expression. I also think my tattoos and individuality are part of what makes me memorable. Instead of trying to hide what makes me different, I’ve learned to embrace it.
Beyond modeling itself, I’m proud of the community I’ve built online through my content. I’ve had videos go viral, started trends, and connected with people who feel inspired by my journey and transparency. I try to show both the highlights and the reality of the industry because I want other aspiring models to know they are not alone in what they experience.
What sets me apart most is my mindset and resilience. I’m someone who continues showing up even when things are difficult. I stay calm under pressure, I’m hardworking, adaptable, and I genuinely care about growing both professionally and personally. I don’t just want to succeed for myself, I want my journey to encourage other people to believe in themselves too.
What I’m most proud of is how far I’ve come without giving up on myself. From starting modeling as a hobby at 16 to walking in 28 fashion shows, modeling at Gotham Hall in New York, participating in Art Hearts Fashion, being photographed by Getty Images, and creating viral content, every step has been a reminder that consistency, faith, and perseverance truly matter.
I’m still evolving, still learning, and still growing, but I’m proud that I’ve stayed true to who I am throughout the process. I never wanted to blend in, and I think that authenticity is one of my greatest strengths.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
One thing I love most about Nashville is that it helped pave the way for my modeling career. I’ve met so many incredible people here, especially talented designers and creatives who gave me opportunities, believed in me, and allowed me to grow within the industry. Nashville has a very supportive and welcoming creative community, and I’m grateful for the relationships and experiences that helped shape me early on.
I also love being able to inspire and work with aspiring models here. Teaching classes and helping others build confidence in themselves has been one of the most rewarding parts of my journey. It reminds me how important community and encouragement really are.
If I had to say one challenge, it would be that Nashville isn’t traditionally considered a major fashion capital like New York, Paris, or Los Angeles. Because of that, many of the larger agencies, runway opportunities, and high-fashion events are located far away, which means a lot of traveling and building connections outside the city. But at the same time, I think coming from a place that’s still growing in fashion has made me even more driven to stand out and create my own lane.
