Exploring Life & Business with Candace Robinson of The Candid Consultant, LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Candace Robinson.

Hi Candace, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’ve always believed education is one of the most powerful tools for transformation — not just academically, but personally, culturally, and emotionally. My journey started in Nashville as a student who valued language, culture, and storytelling. That passion eventually led me to study Spanish, English literature, Latin American Studies, and Educational Leadership, and over the years, I’ve built a career that has allowed me to work across classrooms, nonprofits, leadership development, curriculum design, and educational consulting.

I began my career teaching Spanish and later served in various educational leadership roles supporting schools, teachers, and students both locally and nationally. Along the way, I realized my work was never just about content delivery — it was about helping people feel seen, empowered, and capable of growth. Whether I was working with students in the K-12 learning environment, adult learners, educators, or organizations, I found myself drawn to work centered around transformation, relationship-building, and creating learning experiences that are culturally relevant and human.

At my core, I’m simply an advocate for education — period. I believe students of all ages deserve access to quality learning experiences and opportunities that allow them to grow into the fullest version of themselves. I’m grateful that my career has allowed me to support learners across multiple generations and backgrounds from the youngest learners during their formative years to teenagers navigating identity and confidence to adults returning to education while balancing work, family, and life responsibilities.

Over time, my career expanded beyond traditional education spaces into consulting, instructional design, and training. I’ve had the opportunity to support schools and organizations across the country, develop curriculum, coach teams, and help design programs focused on resilience, emotional wellness, literacy, communication, and personal growth.

At this stage of my life, I feel deeply connected to work that supports lifelong learning. Whether through adult literacy, curriculum development, or educational programming, I’m grateful for opportunities to help people continue growing at every stage of life. It’s less about fitting into one lane and more about using my experiences to create impact across multiple spaces.

Nashville has also played a huge role in shaping who I am. It’s home, but it’s also a city where I’ve witnessed tremendous change, opportunity, creativity, and disparity all at once. That reality continues to influence how I approach my work, leadership, and the communities I hope to serve.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely has not been a completely smooth road, and honestly, I think that’s true for most people who dedicate themselves to service-oriented work. Education, leadership, and community-centered work can be incredibly rewarding, but they can also be emotionally demanding.

One of the biggest challenges has been learning how to evolve professionally without losing myself in the process. I’ve worked in spaces where I was expected to lead, create, support, problem-solve, and carry tremendous responsibility, sometimes without the visibility, resources, or support systems that matched the level of work being done. Like many educators and professionals in helping fields, I’ve experienced burnout, disappointment, and moments of questioning what sustainability really looks like when you care.

I think many people underestimate how challenging it can be to pivot, rebuild, or pursue new opportunities after investing years into a particular path or institution. One can certainly overcome challenges! And while there’s vulnerability in starting over, taking risks, and trusting your voice and expertise in new spaces, it has been worth it because I have and continue to learn resilience, discernment, adaptability, and the importance of protecting my peace while still remaining purpose-driven.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about The Candid Consultant, LLC?
Through my consulting work and educational initiatives, my focus has been centered around transformation through learning. My background spans education, instructional design, curriculum development, leadership training, coaching, and community engagement, but at the heart of everything I do is a commitment to helping people and organizations grow in meaningful, sustainable ways.

I specialize in developing culturally relevant learning experiences, strategic educational programming, leadership development, adult learning initiatives, and curriculum that connects both academic and social-emotional growth. Over the years, I’ve worked with students, educators, nonprofit organizations, and other consultants -to bridge education with real-life impact.

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
I’m someone who genuinely enjoys learning about anything, so I explore content across different platforms, whether traditional hardback books/audiobooks, podcasts… and yes even social media! I consider it being balanced!

Faith, reflection, and prayer have helped me stay grounded through different seasons of life and career transitions. I think having spaces that support both personal and spiritual growth is incredibly important. I enjoy content that encourages growth, reflection, leadership, and emotional wellness, so I tend to gravitate toward podcasts, audiobooks, and apps that pour into those areas; and content that allows to connect historical, cultural and systemic realities to education and equity. I also enjoy social media

With these ideas in mind, here are a “few” of my favorites: PRAY; IMO with Michelle Obama and Craig Robinson; The Mel Robbins’ Podcast: Next Level Leaders with Dr. Joseph Walker, III; Pop Culture Happy Hour by NPR, and After 1954/Lemonada.
