Meet Reece Young of Nashville

Today we’d like to introduce you to Reece Young.

Hi Reece, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Indie-rock artist Reece Young knows how to turn trouble into triumph. Bred in New Jersey and based in Nashville, he pours out his deepest personal experiences to cement his place in the music world. Young’s success, however overnight it may seem, was a long time coming. Over the course of his career, he’s experienced a metric ton of professional whiplash: from playing big stages like Bludfest and Riot Fest to rolling burritos in the back of a Nashville coffee shop days later; and touring with industry hallmarks like Underoath, Zero 9:36, Palisades and Avoid only to return to a retail position. That whiplash isn’t just occupational, though: beginning his career in the new metal genre, Young experienced a sonic metamorphosis as well, bending his production style in order to reach a larger audience without compromising his auditory integrity. Inspired by the likes of Twenty One Pilots, Bring Me The Horizon, and Jon Bellion, Young takes honest storytelling and turns it into an unforgettable live show, commanding the stage and captivating fans with his explosive energy. The proof is in the progress: and Reece Young is here to stay.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Nothing about this journey is smooth. You either go all in, or you are all out. The mental, financial, and physical sacrifices have been extremely taxing. But it is all worth it when I am on stage. We were lucky enough to be invited to play at Yungblud’s festival in the UK last year and it changed so much. Aside from finally validating my journey, it made me realize it was the only thing I ever wanted to do. We go back to London this summer for my first ever headline show followed by a festival appearance at All Points East opening for twenty one pilots.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
For the first 10 years or so of my music journey I focused in on the new metal genre. This year I decided to switch things up. I have a new management team, a new label home, and (potentially) a new agent. I am now fully releasing alternative music. It feels very true to who I am and I could not be prouder of it.

What’s next?
The London trip this summer is going to be eventful to say the least. A headline show (which is already half sold) followed by opening for my favorite band of all time in twenty one pilots. Who knows where we will be after those conclude!
