Meet Lashonda Springfield of Anointed Flowers & Gifts

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lashonda Springfield.

Hi Lashonda, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My story started with flowers long before I opened a business. As a child, I discovered my creativity while playing in my grandmother’s flower bed. Over time, that love for flowers grew into a passion for floral design and serving others through meaningful experiences.

Today, I am the owner of Anointed Flowers & Gifts in Jackson, Tennessee. I have been designing flowers for over 10 years and am also a certified wedding planner. Through my business, I create floral designs for weddings, sympathy services, special events, and everyday occasions.

My journey has included challenges, including experiencing homelessness, but those seasons helped shape my faith, perseverance, and determination. Anointed Flowers & Gifts is more than a business to me—it represents resilience, creativity, and the belief that beauty can grow from difficult circumstances.

Today, I continue to grow the business through weddings, community events, floral workshops, and everyday floral design. My goal is to help people celebrate, honor loved ones, and create meaningful memories through flowers.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has definitely not been a smooth road. One of the biggest challenges I have faced was experiencing homelessness. That season tested me in ways I never expected, but it also strengthened my faith, perseverance, and determination to build a better future.

As a small business owner, I have also faced many of the challenges that come with entrepreneurship, including building a customer base, managing expenses, navigating slow seasons, and learning how to grow a business while wearing many different hats. There have been times when I had to keep moving forward even when things felt uncertain.

Through those challenges, I learned the importance of resilience, consistency, and trusting the process. Every obstacle has helped shape who I am today, both personally and professionally. Looking back, I can see how those experiences prepared me to serve my customers with greater compassion and appreciation for life’s meaningful moments.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Anointed Flowers & Gifts is a florist and gift shop based in Jackson, Tennessee, specializing in everyday flowers, sympathy and funeral arrangements, weddings, special events, and floral experiences. I have been designing flowers for over 10 years and am also a certified wedding planner, which allows me to serve clients through both floral design and event planning.

What sets us apart is the personal experience we provide. I believe flowers are more than decorations—they help people celebrate milestones, honor loved ones, express emotions, and create lasting memories. Whether I am designing wedding florals, creating a sympathy arrangement, or helping someone select a bouquet “just because,” I approach each order with care and attention to detail.

In addition to traditional floral services, I enjoy creating interactive floral experiences through flower bars, workshops, and community events that bring people together. One of the things I am most proud of is building a business that reflects creativity, service, and genuine care for the people we serve.

I want readers to know that Anointed Flowers & Gifts is a place where every customer is valued and every arrangement is designed with purpose. My goal is to create beautiful floral designs while helping people celebrate, remember, comfort, and connect during life’s most meaningful moments.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lesson I have learned is to keep going, even when the outcome is uncertain. There were times in my life and business when things did not go according to plan, and I had to learn how to trust the process, stay consistent, and keep moving forward.

I have also learned that success rarely happens overnight. Building a business takes patience, hard work, and a willingness to learn from mistakes along the way. Every challenge has taught me something valuable, whether it was about business, relationships, finances, or personal growth.

Most importantly, I have learned to appreciate the journey. Some of my greatest lessons came from difficult seasons, and those experiences helped shape the person and business owner I am today. They also gave me a deeper appreciation for the opportunity to serve others through my work and make a positive impact in their lives.
