Meet Amanda Stephenson of Nashville

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Stephenson.

Hi Amanda, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I have always been an artist since I was a little kid. I went to school to be an art teacher and I did that until I had kids. I stayed home to teach them and then I escaped to the garage to make epoxy art. Eventually when they went to school I sold my art in art shows, but my husband had the idea that the most fun part was making the epoxy charcuterie boards… So why not teach an epoxy board pour class. I was after all trained as a teacher! While teaching my class and connecting with the people attending I saw a need for help custom designing tables and preserving bridal bouquets.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
There have been ups and downs. There has been a learning curve as an artist diving into the world of business. I am still learning some aspects of the business world, but my background as a teacher has helped me connect with clients and help meet their needs.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I have three branches of my artist business.
The beers and boards class is taught out of Cedar Glades brewery. Where we coach people through the epoxy board pour process and people can design and pour a charcuterie board, wine caddy and cheese, board, or bourbon flight. After the class I take it home and finish the board.

Sapphire wood studio preserves wedding flowers into beautiful epoxy keepsakes that brides can remember there day forever. We also make custom tables for clients and designers.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I like the art scenes and the new design of new builds.
