Today we’d like to introduce you to Matthew Thomas.
Hi Matthew, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Well thank you so much for having me first off. I’ve been in Nashville for 3 years but in the music industry for about 7 years. I started to make trips to Nashville in 2019 when I was in college. That time was one of the hardest times of my life with the stress of college and trying to navigate becoming an adult in a state I was still trying to figure out how it felt like home. I have worked tirelessly on building relationships with other musicians, record label executives, managers you name it. I always say that you’re one connection away from changing your life. Talent ultimately is a major key but that is how I’ve gotten to where I am today by working really hard on my craft and mastering the skill of networking.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
That’s funny… smooth road would not be what I would call it at all. I’m sure a lot of artists would have that same response. Moving to Nashville has made things more accessible, but it also takes time to get things in gear and it’s still like that even three years in. I experienced people telling me things I wanted to hear and not always being truthful. Getting told no more than getting a yes, which is just something you have to get used to. And also trying to get a bachelors degree in the midst of trying to make a name for myself in Nashville in a small town where dreams like that are supported very well.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Well I say I’m a Singer/Songwriter. I specialize in the melodic writing of the song, I truly believe in my skill in the melodic world; my ear tends to always gravitate toward that part of the song before the lyrics. I always try to make a vulnerable song before a quote on quote trending song. I’m most proud of the current music im making, it has gotten me through some of the toughest parts of my life.
So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
Honestly the best way to support or collaborate is social media Instagram and TikTok are my best ways of communication or my email too! Which is in my Instagram I believe. I’m usually always down to hearing about a collaboration idea or working together if it feels right to my brand and the timing of everything.
