Life & Work with Marin Rylee of Nashville

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marin Rylee.

Hi Marin, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Most of my life has been spent in the dance studio. I’ve been dancing since I was 6, trained in all different styles and have been blessed to perform with some of music’s greatest artists like Dolly Parton, Carrie Underwood, Miley Cyrus, Lord Huron and more. Now, I’m entering a new role on stage and off as artist, and CEO of LionEyes Records, the indie record label music division of LionEyes Entertainment DAO LLC — a full-service independent production company at the intersection of music, film, television, and Web3 technology.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I wouldn’t say it’s been a smooth road, but God has definitely lead me the entire way. Anyone in music today knows how wrecked the industry model is. AI is everywhere! It’s affecting streaming services, content creation, writing and production. Live performance is coming back strong, but not in the way it’s been the past 10 or 20 years. NFTs are still so new and yet the web 3 community is growing fast. So as a new company, where do we go from here? How can you break artists into a system that is on the verge of the unknown?

My perspective on all of this is “be in the industry but not of it.” Things are constantly going to be changing, and the great thing about being an indie company is that we don’t have to follow the rules. We pulled our artists music off of Spotify because of their terms of service. We are actively building relationships with amazing people and companies on the cutting edge of web3 and blockchain technologies. We utilize AI not for creative works, but to help us streamline the business side of our company.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
People often ask me what I do for a living, and I never really know how to answer them. I could blanket statement and say, “I’m an artist” but that doesn’t paint the full picture. I am a pop musical artist, I’m a dancer, I write, produce and sing… but I also manage my catalog of music. I treat my artistic works as business assets. I’m responsible for a company that holds not only my music, but 2 other artists.

I spend my days learning music publishing, building AI agents, producing music, creating content, strategizing marketing for LionEyes Records, copyrighting music and so much more! I’m a creative who is immersed in the business side of the music industry.

I LOVE creating music! I LOVE performing on stage! I LOVE telling stories through creative mediums… but I also love knowing that I’m setting myself up for success long term.

How do you think about happiness?
Stories make me happy. My dad has worked in film my whole life and there is just something so magical about telling stories. The amount of depth it takes to create a truly beautiful piece of art that connects with people is unlike anything else. It’s not just about the words, it’s about the sound, the touch, the scenery, the honestly behind an actors eyes. Music, acting, movement… these are such beautiful mediums to express human experiences that leave people changed.
