Today we’d like to introduce you to Lori Lynn.
Hi Lori, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Lori Lynn’s story has a lot in common with the music she sings—lines of joy and sorrow in a good-hearted woman’s pursuit of a lifelong dream. Her earliest memories are of singing to visitors in her rural TX home. Lori has performed on two of Country Music’s most influential radio shows—the Louisiana Hayride and the Grand Ole Opry. While living in TX, OK and TN, she sang in clubs, recording studios, and television shows and performed regularly in Nashville. The legendary Billy Sherrill—producer for George Jones, Tammy Wynette, and other stars—recorded one of Lori’s songs. She’s still going strong writing songs and performing regularly. Recently she and her band, Appalachian Moon, that consists of her sons, brought home awards from N.A.C.M.A.I., performed on WDVX “Blue Plate Special” and tours honkytonks and restaurant venues. Lori Lynn is “a guitar picking singer-songwriter, get’er done countrified southern girl with blues rock running through her veins.”
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Of course not. Life is full of challenges, ups and downs, but when you’re living out your “calling” in life, it is all worth it. The best part is being on stage, connecting with the people, reaching them. One of the hard parts is booking, and the full time 24/7 secretarial work. Sometimes you get a lot of no’s or booking calendar is full for the year, before you get yes’s and bookings. Also, social media is forever changing which requires constant learning and readjusting.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Wow, where do I begin? My specialty? Singing, playing guitar and bass, writing songs, people connection…I LOVE people. My sons are freaking amazing on their instruments, vocals and songwriting. Just listening to them when I’m onstage, tears come to my eyes and I get chill bumps all over! I’m the luckiest Mama alive! What sets us apart? We are a family band…unique in sound as well. You’ll have to come listen and see.
Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
We are always looking online for ways to better ourselves and when we have time off, we love to watch other bands and talk to people.
