Inspiring Conversations with Gabrielle Cataldo of Sweet Nook Coffee shop

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gabrielle Cataldo.

Hi Gabrielle, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
When I was younger, I loved the idea of owning a bakery/coffee shop where everything was homemade. When some family members of mine started fixing up some buildings on the square. This opportunity arose. They asked if I wanted to use one of these buildings to start a coffee shop and I jumped right on board! I was so exited to build something that others could enjoy everyday just as much as I enjoy doing it!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The most challenging part so far is learning how to properly use the appliances, mainly the espresso machine. Running a business in itself is a new experience for me, so I struggle with that aspect. Although it’s challenging, I have so many people around me that know a lot helping me along.

As you know, we’re big fans of Sweet Nook Coffee shop . For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
We’re known for our specialty lattes! The names of our lattes we serve correspond with other stores in the Wartrace square. These range from a maple bacon latte, based on the Rock House Deli, to a rose matcha, topped with a cold foam flower based off of our own shop, the Sweet Nook. We also specialize in baked goods such as chocolate chip cookies and blueberry muffins.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
The quality of our products matters first and foremost, such as our homemade syrups and baked goods. The environment we aim to provide is also very important. We want people to feel comfortable coming in and just being able to talk and step away from reality. It’s a perfect atmosphere for studying, hosting little book clubs, bible studies or just a card game with your friends.
