Rising Stars: Meet Paige Robinson of Nashville

Today we’d like to introduce you to Paige Robinson.

Hi Paige, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My passion for photography started when I received my first camera for Christmas at just 10 years old. From that moment on, I was constantly taking photos, and throughout high school I became known as “the friend with the camera.” The creative aspect of photography was something I was passionate about.

When I started college, I initially pursued a degree in nursing. However, after realizing that path wasn’t the right fit for me, I changed my major and began studying business at Cumberland University. In several of my marketing classes, we were tasked with creating our own businesses as part of class projects. For fun, I chose to develop a photography business, never imagining that one day it would become a reality.
After graduating, I decided to take a chance on that little business I had created in class and see where it might lead. What started as a simple idea soon grew into something much bigger than I ever expected. Nearly four years later, I’m now a full-time photographer.

Photography allows me to combine creativity, connection, and storytelling in a way that feels incredibly fulfilling. It’s my dream job, and I’m grateful every day that I took a chance on turning a classroom project into a career.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Like many small business owners, I’ve faced my share of challenges along the way. Building a photography business from the ground up has taken a lot of hard work, patience, and learning through experience. In the beginning, some of my biggest struggles were getting my name out there, understanding the business side of photography, and finding systems and workflows that worked best for me.

There have also been slower seasons, long days, and moments where I wondered if I was doing the right thing. As a business owner, you’re responsible for so much more than just taking photos. On any given day, I might be acting as a photographer, marketer, editor, accountant, and customer service representative. Learning to balance all of those roles has been one of the biggest challenges, and one of the greatest learning experiences.

Through it all, every obstacle has taught me something valuable and helped me grow both personally and professionally. Each challenge has shaped me into the photographer and business owner I am today, and those experiences have helped me discover what works best for me and my clients.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a lifestyle and natural light portrait photographer specializing in seniors, couples, families, branding, and maternity sessions. My goal is to create timeless images that capture each client’s story and personality.

I’m known for creating a relaxed and fun experience where clients can feel comfortable being themselves. I strive to build genuine relationships with the people I work with, so it feels less like a business transaction and more like spending time with someone who truly wants to get to know them and their story.

To help clients feel confident and prepared, I provide helpful guides and resources throughout the process, including outfit recommendations, location suggestions, and session tips. My goal is to make the entire experience as stress-free and enjoyable as possible from start to finish.

What I’m most proud of is turning a passion that began in childhood into a full-time career. Photography has given me the opportunity to meet incredible people and capture some of life’s most meaningful milestones.

What sets me apart is the experience I provide. I want every client to leave not only with beautiful images, but also with great memories from their session. My focus is on creating a personalized experience where clients feel comfortable and confident!

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I would consider myself a risk-taker, especially when it comes to pursuing opportunities that align with my goals and passions. One of the biggest risks I took was changing my major in college. I originally started out in nursing, but after realizing it wasn’t the right path for me, I took a leap of faith and switched to business. Looking back, that decision ultimately led me to photography and the career I have today.
Another major risk was starting my photography business. Like any new business owner, I had no guarantee that it would succeed. It was both exciting and intimidating to invest my time, energy, and resources into something I was passionate about without knowing what the outcome would be. Fortunately, that leap of faith paid off and allowed me to turn my passion into a full-time career.
Even now, I believe growth comes from stepping outside of your comfort zone. Whether it’s scouting a new location, experimenting with lighting, or incorporating fresh ideas into a session, I’m always willing to take creative risks. Some of my favorite images and biggest learning experiences have come from trying something new.
My perspective on risk is that while it can be uncomfortable, it often leads to growth. If I hadn’t been willing to take those chances, I wouldn’t be where I am today.
