Today we’d like to introduce you to Isabella Morin.
Hi Isabella, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’m Isabella, a registered dietitian with a specialty in natural healthcare. I grew up in Marietta, GA as a competitive gymnast and later became a competitive swimmer, after a career-ending injury in gymnastics. During my time as an elite athlete, I learned the power of nutrition and the vitality of properly fueling my body before and after competitions for the strongest version of myself. My passion has always lied in discovering the power of nutrition and how it fuels our bodies to run the race of life marked out before us.
I was studying to become a registered dietitian at the University of Georgia in 2020 when I was preparing to experience my study abroad opportunity in Ghana, Africa, providing nutrition resources and education to mothers and their infants. I had been dreaming of this program for two years prior and imagined myself joining the Peace Corps to continue spreading my love for the power of nutrition in developing countries. However, the status of the world and COVID-19 prevented me from attending this program and experiencing this once in a lifetime opportunity. Life is full of challenges and learning to be resilient is a skill only sharpened by overcoming obstacles not in our control.
Instead of spending my summer in Africa, I spent my summer interning for a private practice in Marietta, GA that utilized nutrition to heal the body. In this role, I learned how the Lord made our bodies function with the resources provided on the Earth, I learned the power of the human body in its ability to heal when given the right nutrients, and I learned the role nature plays in our longevity. By 2020, I was experiencing symptoms I had deemed as ‘normal’ because everyone else had them too. I had consistent bloating and GI discomfort, my hormones were severely imbalanced from my tendency to over-exercise and under-nourish my body, and my lack of ability to sleep through the night affected me in more ways than I realized. By accident, I was handed an opportunity to heal my body naturally, and it turned out to be the biggest blessing that completely changed the trajectory of my life.
After obtaining my bachelor’s degree in dietetics with a minor in Human Development and Family Sciences, I landed in Nashville for my 1200-hour supervised clinical internship at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, while also finishing my master’s of science in nutrition online from the University of Georgia. At this point, I knew I wanted to continue to help others on their journey to natural healing, and I was too in love with Nashville, TN to leave it so soon. After passing my Registered Dietitian exam in the summer of 2022, I ended up working for a private practice in Nashville that trained me in Nutrition Response Testing, which is one of the many approaches utilized to read the body and use nutrition to heal. After 6 months at this practice, I felt the Lord calling me away because He had something larger for me, even though I wasn’t sure what that was at the time.
After stepping away from what I thought was my dream job, the Lord opened the doors for me to go to Ghana, Africa again to conduct community nutrition assessments in African villages and spend time teaching mothers the importance and power food has on their bodies and their growing child’s body. This experience helped me gain a new worldly perspective and have a newfound appreciation for the privileges and opportunities in America. I would be lying if this experience wasn’t difficult. Six weeks in a foreign continent, not speaking the same language as those I am serving, with limited basic resources was challenging for my physical body and my faith. The Lord called me home from this trip early, and a season of stillness awaited me.
It’s in this season I experienced the kindness of the Lord. His mercy is abundant and grace is overflowing. I remained in Nashville and was surrounded by a loving community of sweet families that entrusted me with their most precious gifts of this life. I spent my days nannying and being still before the Lord.
After a few months of being an extension of a mother figure for multiple families, I took a weekend trip away for solitude. It’s on this trip, in the mountains in western North Carolina, the Lord told me my next steps. Rewind to the month before I left for the summer to Africa, I started seeing a new chiropractor. My chiropractor learned about the work I do with reading the body and using nutrition to strengthen it and offered me space in his office to do this work. I turned it down. I was about to leave for the summer and was still fresh out of leaving my last position where I had been overworked with this type of work and I wasn’t ready to jump back into it yet. Leading up to this trip of solitude, I was meditating on Exodus 14:14: “The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” I felt the Lord calling me to a season of stillness before him, as I mentioned earlier. It was on this solo trip the Lord called me to move forward, just like he called the Israelites to keep moving forward after being still before Him. I prayed and asked God how I should go. It was later that same weekend I received a phone call from my friend’s mom asking about the work I do and if I could help her. Of course, any symptom in our body can be healed through nutrition, so I told her I would love to help her. The only issue was that I did not have an office at the time. Once I realized what the Lord had called me to do, I came home to Nashville, called my chiropractor with the extra room, and started building what has become Holistic Hope, LLC.
Holistic Hope, LLC is originally derived from my name, Isabella Hope. I’ve always loved my middle and it wasn’t until recently that I have leaned into the concept of sharing it with others and living it out vicariously. In the Bible, the anchor is the symbol for hope. Hope being something that is firm, yet unseen. An anchor represents something holding us firmly in place, yet unseen. Jesus serves as our living hope, leading us to God’s presence.
Hebrews 6:19 “We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure.”
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
This role I play of being a natural healthcare provider to clients truly fills my cup. The Lord has gifted me with the knowledge and passion to work with the body and utilize the food He put on this Earth to educate others and help them on their journey to natural healing. That does not mean this process has been easy. Becoming an entrepreneur starting at the age of 24 is intimidating and surreal at the same time. My life does not look how I imagined or how many of the people I surround myself with looks. There is a lot of behind the scenes work of running a business most people do not see. Running a business also requires me to wear a lot of hats at once, and I have had to learn a lot through my mistakes. However, I can confidently say the benefits far outweigh the difficulties. I hear testimonies daily of how clients’ lives are being changed and symptoms that have been there for decades have disappeared. That is why I do what I do, to give people hope, to reveal to them the power of their body, and that healing is possible.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Holistic Hope, LLC is a private-practice specializing in natural healthcare and registered dietitian services. I primarily utilize muscle testing, which is a non-invasive approach to determine underlying health disparities. Muscle testing reveals the source of any imbalance in the body, these could show up as chemicals, heavy metals, immune challenges, or food intolerances. My goal is to remove the interference through nutrition and allow the body to heal itself. This approach allows me to read the body and discover exactly which nutrients it is lacking. Each client’s protocol is different and tailored specifically for them. Through whole-food nutritional supplements, the body will begin to repair itself at the cellular level allowing for optimal recovery and longevity.
How do you think about happiness?
I think we often make happiness more complicated than it needs to be. For me, it’s found in the simple things: good food shared with people I love, meaningful conversations, fresh air, sunshine, and time spent with the Lord. Nature has a way of bringing me back to what matters most and reminding me that there is so much joy to be found in the present moment.
